So why do these threads always blow up then?  It's not the perverts or the white knights who blow them out of the water.

Because it's soooooo easy to troll, and it's so tempting for people to call others attention wh*r*s. This is especially true for girl gamers as alot of them carry around Dick Harrems composed of multiple White Knights, who defend their every word/action just because they're female... even if they're blatantly wrong.

Whether or not they are right can be debated.

People constantly think they know how people think, but there is literally no way to actuall know unless you're that person. I would suggest you make a group for female players to join and talk in, but I don't think there's a good enough screening process to stop people coming in he accusing you of being attention ****s or man haters.

I'm closer to a white knight...but I've come to the conclusion that the best way to help is to explain that this isn't that big a deal. To paraphrase an old proverb: Someone who has no control overthemselves is like a castle already conquered. Women who let themselves get caught up in identity group politics are no longer serving themselves... women should serve themselves, not their identity group. It's easy to say being from the identity group that doesn't have franchise status because supposedly I own the world from being in my identity group.

But all the same, being a part of an identity group is to not be an individual, it is to have the identity group's interests supplant the individual interests.... and the biggest problem of that is that identity groups aren't a democracy or a collective, they're closer to an oligarchy or aristocracy, so that only a few individuals benefit from a great number of individuals giving up their individual interests.

Best of the Best probably would've been better with a full ME3 single player squad on it. When I play the single player campaign, I'm rooting for the team, not just Sheppard, Sheppard just happens to be the cog that I have direct control over.

no one was asking for special treatment. Some people liked the female Shepard character more than the male, so they wanted there to be one of each Shepard, not to change it. And the OP just wanted to see if there were other female forumers. She wasn't trying to get any special treatment.
