Yes, we like our sex.
Yes, this is confirmed by science:
Four experiments confirmed that women's automatic in-group bias is remarkably stronger than men's and investigated explanations for this sex difference, derived from potential sources of implicit attitudes (L. A. Rudman, 2004). In Experiment 1, only women (not men) showed cognitive balance among in-group bias, identity, and self-esteem (A. G. Greenwald et al., 2002), revealing that men lack a mechanism that bolsters automatic own group preference. Experiments 2 and 3 found pro-female bias to the extent that participants automatically favored their mothers over their fathers or associated male gender with violence, suggesting that maternal bonding and male intimidation influence gender attitudes. Experiment 4 showed that for sexually experienced men, the more positive their attitude was toward sex, the more they implicitly favored women. In concert, the findings help to explain sex differences in automatic in-group bias and underscore the uniqueness of gender for intergroup relations theorists.

Meh. The same is often true in reverse. I mean have you seen reddit?
Do you mean men's reddit?
Honestly I was being a little sarcastic by naming reddit specifically but check any thread on reddit that is intended for a male audience (and isn't by design basically flamebait for some sex/gender related topic, say a harmless pictures of hot chicks type of thing) and you will usually find a few butthurt chicks giving me a bad name in there somewhere. Comparatively speaking, the dudes in this thread are pretty mellow.
Re: in group gender/sex bias. I've read that study and find it fascinating because I'm pretty much the polar opposite of that. Most of my friends have always been dudes. I have a fair amount of female friendsand value the friendships greatly, but have always felt I communicated better with my male friends. Halo effect has been suggested to me. But I don't see what Master Chief has to do with it.

Correct and so are men, against their own kind.

Of course there are outliers but outliers confirm the generalised rule. When it comes to the welfare of the individual, generally speaking, both women and men will favour women over men.

Indeed. I've wondered if that is somehow tied to the reproductive angle (i.e. in a low population crisis/near extinction situation it's more important to have more women than men for genetic diversity). Our brains are funny stuff.
It is tied to this in fact.
http://tierneylab.bl...icky-questions/
The
“single most underappreciated fact about gender,” he said, is the ratio of our
male to female ancestors. While it’s true that about half of all the people who ever
lived were men, the typical male was much more likely than the typical woman to
die without reproducing. Citing recent DNA research, Dr. Baumeister explained
that today’s human population is descended from twice as many women as men.
Maybe 80 percent of women reproduced, whereas only 40 percent of men did.
The information aboveis particularly true in case of a population bottleneck as had occurred in the past. A population botteneck being just the population crisis you cited when the entirety of a species is reduced to a very small percentage of survivors. This happened for example ca. 80,000 years BP when a volcanic eruption in Indonesia, reffered to as the Toba catastrophe reduced the worldwide human population to possibly as few as 1,000 individuals with conservative estimates being at 10,000. Quite simply, women being the limiting factor in reproduction have more inherent value than men. If every man in the tribe dies except one but all the women survive, no problem. Reverse the situation and there is a big problem. This is the primary reason why women have never fought on the front lines in war and why there existed the old motto women and children first. It is also why men have no in group bias favouring themselves. Men are essentially forever locked in a state of competition with each other (Dominance Hierarchy) vying for female approval. As with vritually all animals, the female selects the male, not the other way around, hence men competing against each other (and in past times killing each other) to gain access to female reproductive resources.

Those disconnects i've been telling you about? That's been because the wireless chip can't exactly handle ME3 and tends to cut out after like 1 game, so I'm waiting till i get an ethernet cable installed, which will probably be on the other side of christmas.
After that though i'll be playing like a junkie.
