In my opinion, I liked the love interests in the first Dragon Age than in the second one. Anyway, that doesn't matter. My friend and I were talking that one big factor that will influence our decision to pre-order is if BioWare reveals a love interest that will win us over. My best friend and myself are both fans of Morrigan, Anora and Miranda. Our dream is to have another tough femme fatale love interest. Isabella doesn't count cause she does it with just anyone. You know, we were kind of hoping Cassandra was a love interest in DA2... but maybe in 3 she could be.

So yeah, a cool love interest character could be a femme fatale noble on the run or possibly a Grey Warden too. How about you guys?

Here's a list. See if you can extrapolate the type of woman I like (this works in reality).

Miranda Lawson
Sarah Walker
Bastila Shan
Emma Frost
Vesper Lynd
Marah Jade
Hannah McKay
Juno Eclipse

It kind of depends on what kind of PC I'm able to make.

But anyway, my favorite LI has been Fenris. After that, maybe Anders. Then Isabela. Then Alistair.

Well-written, someone I can empathize with, and nice to look at. That's pretty much all I ask.

for chicks, it's been Merrill, Isabela, and Leliana. For dudes, only Fenris.

For me it would have to be Leliana.

But if another character had red hair, blue eyes, a french accent, really girly and cute, that would be okay too.

Is it wrong for me to say Ada Wong? Ada Wong, Anora, Leliana, Aya Brea...I like these people.

She sure as hell doesn't have anything to do in a bloody game.

For female LI, someone who is strong like Aveline or Cassandra

For male LI, someone who is tough but doesn't afraid to show his emotions. A dash of humor and a strong sense of duty. Probably a mix between Kaidan, Garrus, and Alistair.

The type of LIs I'd like to see:

Alyx Vance
Trip (Enslaved)
Merrill
Tali

LIs should have some personality. That matters most.

My real-life girlfriend.

Ingame I would say: Leliana first, Ariane second

I tend to prefer the nice guys, but I usually just favor the romances I felt played out best, even if it's not the character I liked most. Thane, for instance, was my favorite for ME2. But since Garrus way overshadowed him in ME3, I prefer his romance with FemShep.

That said, I wouldn't say there's a lot of variation for straight women for most earlier BioWare games until DAO. Alistair was my favorite then, and I didn't like any of straight female romances from DAII.

I just really appreciate Alistair and Morrigan's romances because of the added tone it adds to the end game. You don't lose content for not romancing either of them, but the scenes there mean something completely different depending on who you romanced, or who you befriended. I still think DAO did romance best of any BioWare game. I appreciate the longevity of the ME3 romances, but they play out pretty linearly and have little bearing on the plot one way or the other.

Anders' and Isabela's romances obviously affected this or that in DAII--but I can really say I only liked Isabela. It's because of her I'm going to keep Male Hawke as my canon.

This is sad, but there was never a love interest in any game, that I ever played, that I completely liked, and that I would REALLY like to romance if I was actually walking in the shoes of my character.

The two characters that came closest to what I would like to romance were Qara from NWN2, and Morinth from ME2, and both weren't a romance option. In other words - powerful, fearless, confident, sexy, actually loyal once you get close to them and generally chaotic neutral kind of characters.

I always hope for the best, maybe one of these will show up in the future game.

Based on BioWare companions only, so far Alistair has been my favourite male love interest.

As for my ideal love interest in DA3, I've kinda got my heart set on Cullen if he's a romancable companion. If not, then I usually go for LI's that I find amusing, but it really depends on a whole bunch of factors, such as the type of personality/attitude my protagonist has and who I think fits the best with the overall story.

For example, if I'd had the option then my Hawke would've romanced Varric in DA2, but since he wasn't available I had him romance Anders instead because he fit well with my pro-mage Hawke's story.

The ladies are so ready for Cullen that they should just give the PC the dialogue interrupt option of "Jump his bones" the very first time you meet him in the game.

Cullen: Hi, my name's Cul ---

PC: - Jump his bones   /     - Stab him (for those of us who don't want to)

Hannah McKay!

The murderous, pretty lady with a good heart. :|

Or some sort of more fleshed out Samantha Traynorish character with a nice voice and nice accent.

Regarding the bolded...

Isabela is actually quite selective, and comments on it in-game. She even comments to Merrill that she hasn't had as many lovers as one would think, most likely because people take some of her remarks and stories and use that as a means to measure her, to exaggerate her past.

That said, I'm just curious as to why she doesn't count. Her romance arc and character development were quite well-written.

I want someone who'll act like a self confident equal to the PC, and not go into fangirlish squee about how the PC is far more awesome than they are, but is also basically solidly "Paragon".

Bioware romances seem to have a tendency to make the "paragon" romance kind of deferential and insecure, while the self confident and challenging are the "renegade" ones. At least with the women, I haven't payed enough attention to the male romances to say if the trend fits there.

And stop having them say "thank you" after sex.

(Sorry if this is a bit more negative than this thread is supposed to be.)

She turned down my Warden, and my Warden was totally hot.

(The persuade check in DA:O is really quite hard.  IIRC you need full Coercion unless you've been investing heavily in Cunning)
