For some reason i cant understand why they decided to destroy one of their best franchises to date. Its almost as they wanted to create this garbage and sell it in order to destroy what they created so they never have to make profit out of it again.

In order to create. One must first destroy.

anyone find it kinda odd that if you look at the game literally then all it is about is shepard becoming indoctrinated and finally when the need for a clear mind is evident, you are presented with choices? choices? seriously? I wanna kill reapers.

Does anyone else wonder why when load screens are up, the backdrop has whatever is on the load screen, whether it be citadel or normandy, is floating / moving like you're in a dream?

There is no war, there is only the harvest.

all yours for £9.99 DLC for an incomplete released game.

What's destroyed about it? They weren't going to be able to keep handling our imported choices for more games anyway -- they could barely handle ME2 as it was. So the divergent endings of ME3 didn't break anything that they were going to need.

How dare they put choices in an RPG.

So they purposefully wrecked ME3 at the end... in order to avoid having to deal with the trilogy for the next Mass Effect?

VI representation of the program that created the reapers.  Manifesting in Shepards dream-like state as the boy who haunted his dreams, since the image was strongly present in his subconscious.  It wouldnt even know it had taken on this form in Shepards mind, just that it was offering information in order to achieve a new outcome it could no longer decide on.

It considers itself the enabler of evolved organic life, which would make sense to a sophisticated but perhaps not wholly self-aware program.  Because organic life tends to resist the evolution toward synthesis, reapers became a weapon of war in order to fulfill their agenda.

This program created the reapers, manifesting a solution.  The presence of the crucible and shepard together leads to a recognition  of other possibilities, which the program accepts because it places no emotional value on destroying sentient life, it does not consider itself the enemy of sentient life. It needs sentient life to exist, in order for it to continue pursuing its purpose.

The reason reapers are AI is that they take the existencial essence of their respective race.  They no longer have the organic recognition of evolved life being sacred, that would be counter to their purpose, which was established by the original VI that started the cycle.

Apologies for any errors, writing this away from my computer.

I'd link to the Torch The Franchise And Run article but tvropes have managed to break their entire site with yesterday's "upgrade"

Orrr.....they purposely wrote an ending that they thought would be awesome, and which...regardless of the haters...actually has fans?  Heck, I still get the feeling that most people may not have been wild about the ending (like me) but just shrugged it off.

This is one of the things that makes me so tired of the haters...how they refuse to accept the fact that there are actually people out there that like the things they don't.  That, just because THEY PERSONALLY don't like something, EVERY ONE must also not like it.

<cue indignant haters slamming me for trying to 'shut them up' or 'strip them of their rights to complain' with loads of insults about blind fanboiz to stupid to recognize garbage and yadda yadda yadda)

Haters gonna hate.  Lovers gonna love.Image IPB

Personally, I'm not a hater, I just know that Bioware dropped the ball with their ending.  It's fun to talk about it because that's the most interesting thing to talk about when looking to the future of the franchise.  Regardless of how anyone feels about it, games don't get the kind of backlash ME3 got unless they really did something wrong.

Some people can see past it's flaws/inconsistencies/etc. or just appreciate the effort put into the extended cut.  But even the most ardent lover of ME3's ending would admit that it had serious problems (less with EC).

In order to stop the reapers we have to shot the tube! Retarded? Yes. Artistic? No doubt.
