They made it clear he was not dead.Mummy22kids wrote...
They already brought him back once when he could be "dead" in awakenings so I don't know if they'd do it again.

No Anders did not make things worst for the mages. He merely sent a message indicating that mages will no longer take the Chantries crap, and therefour was willing to fight for what they truly seek, and that is freedom. Apparently the message got through with the Divine, since she was clearly on the side of the mages in Asunder, and actually granted freedom to the mages at the end. That is that truly started the war and how the Templar order and the Seekers of truth no longer takes orders from the Divine nor the Chantry for as long as the current Divine is in power.
If you want to blame the templar/mage war don't blame it on Anders blame it on the Divine. She along with her Grand Clerics were poor leaders, and allowed the abuse of the mages to go on for so long. Anders was willing to compromise with Elthina after the tranquality quest. He was willing to have a civil debate with Elthina.... obviously the results were not good.
Anders is a hypocrite and a fraud. His desire to "free" his fellow mages are a product of his ego; fantasies borne of a messiah complex. He doesn't (didn't) possess any genuine wish to do improve their lives.

If Anders was legitimately dead and they made it clear or implied that it was just Justice/Vengeance possessing his corpse. Story wise I think they could do it, that doesn't mean I would necessarily want to see it done though...

He's alive in about half of my games. Some games I run off with him, since I mostly like the character up until he's asking me for salt peter and sulfur. However, I try to let him live. Even when I'm pro-Templar, I have trouble killing him. Frankly, I am on the side that while things needed to change, blowing up a frigging Chantry with folks inside was a last straw. I usually don't kill him, simply because an alive fugitive is better than a dead martyr. Martyrs have an incredible amount of power.
