I would recommend HVB and warp ammo.
You gain over 100 damage per bullet of barrier damage for the loss of only 8 damage per bullet versus armour. You also get the same penetration.
Though this set up is arguably inferior to AP and EB versus geth AND cerbies.
Warp and HVB wins against reapers and collectors though.

I don't get whats with all the Hornet hate lately.
I remember the days when we'd call it the only SMG that was any good when put on a Turian who could reduce the recoil.

- All round Assault Rifle buff.
- Eagle buff (or 7)
- Locust buff
- Introduction of Collector SMG
- Introduction of auto-snipers
- Weight reduction to shotguns. Along with buffs to already light shotguns.

Wait till you see what it does to the spread. You can put the entire stream of bullets through a soda straw... at range.

It just so happened, that before the well-deserved tweaking (both nerfs and buffs) it was outright OP on the Destroyer.
