Should be easy enough. They already say none of the endings are canon. So providing more options changes nothing in that regard
An alternate ending would probably make ME3 playable for many. After that, if they're going to make a sequel, they're going to have to canonize something. Might as well see how a new ending does.
But yeah, someone totally committed to an ending that doesn't get canonized is going to lose. Same as now.
atm, all endings have this damocles sword hanging over them.
mass effect 3 needs an "arrival"-dlc - this would alt least equally p**s off evereone. i dont want to be on the writing team or responsible for the decuision to canonize one of the current endings.
