Really? My take -- might be wrong -- is that he sees this as a zero-sum game. Improve the ending for you guys and you worsen it for him.

An optional alternate ending might avoid this, but only if Bio says it's an alternate ending and not canon, and if Mass Effect has no future, only prequels. Otherwise someone's got to lose here.

Should be easy enough.  They already say none of the endings are canon.  So providing more options changes nothing in that regard

An alternate ending would probably make ME3 playable for many. After that, if they're going to make a sequel, they're going to have to canonize something. Might as well see how a new ending does.

But yeah, someone totally committed to an ending that doesn't get canonized is going to lose. Same as now.

atm, all endings have this damocles sword hanging over them.

mass effect 3 needs an "arrival"-dlc - this would alt least equally p**s off evereone. i dont want to be on the writing team or responsible for the decuision to canonize one of the current endings.

For the last time...Mac and Casey love Deus ex so much they will just rip off their way to mesh the endings for sequels

that would be the next "great" idea .. deus ex 2 was a flop for a reason.

I put no limit to the "greatness" of their ideas as long as those 2 are involved

I believe Mac wanted to kill off Shepard so he could get his own character in there. Shepard was Drew's baby afterall.

Did Bioware ever announce this as the last DLC.

I think it's being designed with enhanced closure in mind, as well as ironing out some wrinkles with the more loyal fans. Whether that's pre-, post-, or mid-ending (or, fingers crossed, an enhanced "Priority: Earth") is something I can't come close to predicting from BioWare's erratic wheelhouse at this point. All the writers and composers banding together indicates it's something significant, though, and hopefully pretty hefty.

Bioware's said they're done with the ending, therefore there will be no more ending.

They have not.

However, they did say there would be a year's worth of DLC support.  Which doesn't leave much time for another.  Plus the fact that they have all the writers back, the composer for the music,  as well as at least some of the VAs indicates this is going to be something big.  Perhaps a finale for ME3.

Unofficially, I think this is going to be the last SP DLC. It's a shame. There is a whole mass of idea's that BW could tap into for some DLC's, stuff to actually fix a lot of the garbage in the game. The ME2 Squadmates and LI's for example really need some work. They might try to kill multiple birds with a single stone with this. From the rumors I've heard it's Citadel Evacuation, Possible Priority: Earth redo, and supposedly Harbinger has an appearance as well (don't know if it's in a speaking role or not).

There's supposed to be another MP DLC as well, and some I'd imagine some more character and weapon packs are wanted as well.

I voted yes, but i don't want it to

simply because of the unethical nature of paying for ending related dlc

If it is the final DLC, will it connect to ME4, and does that mean Bioware knows exactly what they plan to do with ME4 right now?

As to charging for an ending, honestly, Priority: Earth 2 looked like EA was seriously shutting off the money pipeline to Bioware and making Bioware beg. If they needed more time and to charge for an ending DLC that would blow everyone away and make everyone cheer, you know your wallet would be ready.

It would be nice and Arrival style DLC: It doesn't affects the ending itself, and sets the introduction for the next game

No. They have said countless countless of times that they are done with the ending. But me personally would love "Search for Shepard" dlc that closes whole Mass Effect trilogy and might indroduce our next PC.

I don't expect anything anymore after Omega had not even a lick to do with what I thought. I just hope it's good.

Oh.  That would never happen, because even in high EMS destroy, Bioware thinks that Shepard is dead.  You're free to take whatever path you wish, but Bioware isn't going to support living Shepards.

I said that I want it to (but don't think it will be) but I'm not that sure. It might make things even worse. Anyway the ending might well be a hole that BioWare don't want to dig any deeper, even if they'll never say as much.
