Personally, I've got mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, it is kind of strange when everybody's talking but the protagonist. For me, it creates a disconnect as if everybody is in the story except the main character. On the other, it means that a lot of my enjoyment of playing a particular gender comes from the voicing. I generally prefer to play female characters, but I liked male Hawke's voice better, so I played more males in DA2. And that's about it for pros and cons. Some people feel incredibly strongly about it and I respect that, but it isn't that big of a deal for me.

Dramatics aside, I cannot see Bioware going back to a voiceless PC. I like the PC to feel like a character rather than a menu to click on options. I actually enjoyed playing as Hawke far more than I did the Warden.

And a voiced PC doesn't bother me, but I do hope that they improve the dialogue wheel.

I'm not even sure what they could do to fix it - the whole charm of the non-voiced PC is that you could imagine your warden putting different emphases and meaning slightly different things by those words depending on the character you were role-playing.
Looks like we're just going to have to suck it up, basically.

I demand that they keep the voiced protagonist, so I guess Bioware is losing a sale either way.
I think they would end up losing more sales if they reverted back to voiceless.
Guess its impossible to keep everyone happy, but after having voiced protagonists i find silent ones hard now.

But the one advantage of the mute protagonist is that they are hard to get attached to unlike Lady Hawke and Fem Shep. In a game like Fallout 3, Skyrim or DA O your character has no voice or personality to speak of, so by the end of the story its easy to let go and move on.
In DA 2 its the ending that causes problems as it is abrupt and fails to wrap up Hawke's story arc in a similar way to the wardens story, those epilogue slides are really missed at that point. Now if Hawke had being mute i would have no connection or emotional attachment to her and wouldn't care about her at the end of story.
But because she can speak it makes a huge difference. So to be told she's 'disappeared' at the end is awful. So for these voiced protagonists its important to wrap it up at the end. Instead of what i get at the end of DA 2 which is the impression that Hawke will be back. Just hope that Lady Hawke has a better fate in store for her off screen or on in DA i.So i really have no desire to see a new protagonist just disappear at end

I actually find it's the other way around for me. A silent protagonist allows me to project whatever personality I want onto the character, it makes it mine and I get more attached. I can't get attached to a voiced protagonist because it's someone else's character and I'm just driving. It's the same reason I can't really get into JRPG's as much; aside from how they level up I have no input into any of the characters.
As for my "or no buy" requirement. No last minute, tacked on, but inexplicably integral feature or no buy. I'm looking at you ME3 multiplayer.

Well, Bye.
Seriously though, here's my only stipulation: "The game must be fun to play".

I did, too. And she did a marvelous job. Preferences in no way reflect talent or quality, they're just personal taste. It's like saying, "I like both chocolate and vanilla ice cream, but I usually get chocolate because I like it slightly better."Versus Omnibus wrote...
But... I liked Jo Wyatt's performance in DA2.
