I'll most likely buy the game regardless of anything, I already have the first two and Awakening and not having complete sets bothers my OCD.

Guess you won't be buying the game, OP. They've already said the voiced PCs are here to stay.

Personally, I've got mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, it is kind of strange when everybody's talking but the protagonist. For me, it creates a disconnect as if everybody is in the story except the main character. On the other, it means that a lot of my enjoyment of playing a particular gender comes from the voicing. I generally prefer to play female characters, but I liked male Hawke's voice better, so I played more males in DA2. And that's about it for pros and cons. Some people feel incredibly strongly about it and I respect that, but it isn't that big of a deal for me.

No voiced PC, I no buy! Therefore, rendering you economic refusal useless!

Dramatics aside, I cannot see Bioware going back to a voiceless PC. I like the PC to feel like a character rather than a menu to click on options. I actually enjoyed playing as Hawke far more than I did the Warden.

Buying it, no matter what. I decide what the value of a game is to me, not a reviewer, and certainly not little quirks I have that don't matter. I would like it if there was a higher presence of dark-skinned characters, but I'll still buy DA3.

I have no "demands" for DA:I, I'll just keep reading the forums and will make up my mind about a purchase after I see some more information about the actual game.

And a voiced PC doesn't bother me, but I do hope that they improve the dialogue wheel.

I believe it's gonna be a good game anyways i don't see why it shouldn't be, i've been a fan of bioware since Jade Empire and even though they have made some mistakes lately i don't really care. Besides it's only 40-50 euros so it wouldn't really be terrible if it turned out bad which i doubt it will :P

I demand that they keep the voiced protagonist, so I guess Bioware is losing a sale either way.

Really dislike the voiced PC, but it looks like it's here to stay, so what can you do?

I'm not even sure what they could do to fix it - the whole charm of the non-voiced PC is that you could imagine your warden putting different emphases and meaning slightly different things by those words depending on the character you were role-playing.

Looks like we're just going to have to suck it up, basically.

I think they would end up losing more sales if they reverted back to voiceless.

Guess its impossible to keep everyone happy, but after having voiced protagonists i find silent ones hard now.

The high point of DA 2 was Jo Wyatt's Lady Hawke. To go from the mute warden to a very lively Lady Hawke was an amazing moment for me, playing the game as Lady Hawke was a delight, So if Hawke's never to be seen again could Jo Wyatt at least Voice a companion in DA i.Man Hawke was a struggle to play, as he always reminded me of the late Brian Wilde from 'Last of the Summer wine'.sometimes he sounded bored and as a result i got bored with him and went back to Lady Hawke where the fun in the game was to be experienced.
But the one advantage of the mute protagonist is that they are hard to get attached to unlike Lady Hawke and Fem Shep. In a game like Fallout 3, Skyrim or DA O your character has no voice or personality to speak of, so by the end of the story its easy to let go and move on.
In DA 2 its the ending that causes problems as it is abrupt and fails to wrap up Hawke's story arc in a similar way to the wardens story, those epilogue slides are really missed at that point. Now if Hawke had being mute i would have no connection or emotional attachment to her and wouldn't care about her at the end of story.
But because she can speak it makes a huge difference. So to be told she's 'disappeared' at the end is awful. So for these voiced protagonists its important to wrap it up at the end. Instead of what i get at the end of DA 2 which is the impression that Hawke will be back. Just hope that Lady Hawke has a better fate in store for her off screen or on in DA i.So i really have no desire to see a new protagonist just disappear at end

I actually find it's the other way around for me.  A silent protagonist allows me to project whatever personality I want onto the character, it makes it mine and I get more attached.  I can't get attached to a voiced protagonist because it's someone else's character and I'm just driving.  It's the same reason I can't really get into JRPG's as much; aside from how they level up I have no input into any of the characters.

As for my "or no buy" requirement.  No last minute, tacked on, but inexplicably integral feature or no buy.  I'm looking at you ME3 multiplayer.

I would be less incline to buy it if it has mute protagonist. I hate standing around looking emotionless when the antagonists just slaughter my entire family in the game. I guess the only thing that would stop me from buying the game is if they don't allow you to romance s/s. That's why I refuse to play SWTOR. One of the reasons why I love Bioware games are because they allow me the option to be myself in the game.

I demand there be words in the game. Lots of words. And moving pictures. And combat. And a dragon. A great BIG DRAGON.And if any one of these things is missing from the game... no monies 4 U Bioware!=]

Seriously though, here's my only stipulation: "The game must be fun to play".

I did, too. And she did a marvelous job. Preferences in no way reflect talent or quality, they're just personal taste. It's like saying, "I like both chocolate and vanilla ice cream, but I usually get chocolate because I like it slightly better."
