Not really hard but Bioware hasn't been impressing lately...

Probably the main reason we don't get a choice of which race we play is largely because it would be too resource heavy to have multiple voices for each of the different races, not to mention all the additional lines that would be necessary to have the world react differently to each race.
This doesn't mean it is impossible, but clearly sticking to just one race is the "frugal" decision when it comes to resource management of the project. Ultimately, it would awesome if you could choose your race AND have it voiced. There are other drawbacks in design too because of a voiced protagonist, but thats my biggest gripe.
As far as not buying it? No, I don't have any "demands" of a developer. They should make the game they want to make and how they want to make it. If its good, I will buy it and likely keep buying their games. When they start trending their games in things I no longer find fun, then I will weigh future purchases against that experience.

I suppose even if the game turned out worse than DA2, had a lot of unskippable cutscenes, no crafting, no interesting side quests, recycled environments, etc., I might wait to buy it on sale, but I would still eventually buy it.
I don't have any doubt that the dev team will produce a game with an interesting story, great dialogue and voice acting. I'm only hoping it turns out much better than DA2, with better replay value, lots of good side quests, a fun crafting system that makes use of all the "junk" items, interesting NPC factions and fun combat that is very challenging on Nightmare, in which case I will likely pre-order.
I'd say if they decided to use GFWL, I would probably not buy it, but that seems extremely unlikely considering that this is going to be an Origin game.

But I'm fairly certain to buy the game eventually - I can't see a Bioware game not offering £5 worth of fun to me. Most likely I'll buy it when it dips below £20, barring major shift in genre or bad reviews and word of mouth.

This is the hill that I die on now. I can accept a lot, and if DA3 isn't everything I hoped, I'll be disappointed, but probably buy it on sale at some point after it comes out anyway. But multiplayer affecting the singleplayer game would keep me from doing even that.

That's right. Jo Wyatt is the Lady Hawke. Not you. Not the players.XM-417 wrote...

You mean, Your warden.XM-417 wrote...
To go from the mute warden
You mean, to a very lively Jo Wyatt's Lady Hawke. Of course, she is very lively. She knows exactly how to stress her voice by reading full text dialogues during recording session. If you were there, you could do the same thing for YOUR Hawke too.XM-417 wrote...

Why wouldn't it. You're watching your favorite Jo Wyatt star the reactive Hawke. How nice. Good for you.XM-417 wrote...

Maybe you'll hear her voice again maybe you'll watch her star DA 3's main protagonist while you do nothing but combat, moving and picking dialogue for her.XM-417 wrote...
So if Hawke's never to be seen again could Jo Wyatt at least Voice a companion in DA i.
XM-417 wrote...
Man Hawke was a struggle to play, as he always reminded me of the late Brian Wilde from 'Last of the Summer wine'.sometimes he sounded bored and as a result i got bored with him and went back to Lady Hawke where the fun in the game was to be experienced.
Wow, Really?

No voice or personality? LoL!XM-417 wrote...
But the one advantage of the mute protagonist is that they are hard to get attached to unlike Lady Hawke and Fem In a game like Fallout 3, Skyrim or DA O your character has no voice or personality to speak of, so by the end of the story its easy to let go and move on.
I don't even bother to argue but you know what? You do mention "Your" character. That's good enough for me. For me. I'd rather have MY Character than having Jo Wyatt's character roleplaying my RPG. But that's just me. Having Jo Wyatt's or Britney Spears's or Justin Timberlake's or Elvis Presley's voice or no, mean little to me, as long as, I can express MY CHARACTER as closely as possible to available game's dialogue. It would be good if I can tell Anders or Fenris to shut up in DA 2. But that's never be an option. So... I don't care who voice MY Character.
XM-417 wrote...
Just hope that Lady Hawke has a better fate in store for her off screen or on in DA i.So i really have no desire to see a new protagonist just disappear at end
You mean Jo Wyatt. Oh I'm sure she has a better fate in real life.
