I never said DA2 did poorly, I said it was a relative failure when compared to Origins in number of units sold. That's not my opinion. DA2 sold less than half as many units as Origins. It cannot be argued that DA2 has greater appeal than Origins or that Origins has less appeal than DA2 so there is nothing wrong with my conclusion.

There really is, since you're taking the relative successes of each game which each are due to countless factors that are well beyond your typical e-warrior's expertise and using that as an indictment of the specific aspect of voiced PCs implicitly despite how much you're trying to hedge that claim.

Seriously, would you please pay attention to what I'm actually writing?
Here's what kicked this whole thing off, as I've already stated.

They're not going back. It'd be retarded.

Origins sold more than twice as many units as DA2. It makes less sense not to change back.

Nowhere is that or in any other post did I say the silent PC was a major factor in Origins' greater success. And it's not some grande mystery as to why DA2 wasn't as successful as Origins. Even its makers acknowledge that DA2 was rushed and didn't deliver what they set out to achieve. I keep seeing this argument of "You don't know every exact detail of every aspect of both games so you can't possibly conclude anything based on sales numbers and customer feedback." It's nonsense.

Agrred the biggest mistake of DA2 was trying to emulate me2

that aside da2/me2 actually opened my eyes in the way rpg would/should go if it wants to stay alive, because believe me if it sdtayed they way "wee old" rpgers want it it will die slowly but  it will die

Origins outsold every Mass Effect game. Clearly us "wee old" RPG players are still present and accounted for.

YEah Origins out sold every mass effect game :o:o:o

Look i can type pish aswell, origins never outsold "EVERY" mass effect game an tbh never will no matter how much i love it.

Origins was a awesome game, noone will ever deny that, but you know what??  origins was a sort of classic rpg an well wee need to move on, why??? well simply to attract a new audience to keep the franchise alive, an you know something?? this new "audience"  dont really give a flying frack about your or mine RPG elements, hence why u got me2 an hence why u got a da2 as it was, what i agree with is up for debate, what is reality is not

All I ask is they fix the words that are telling me what the character is going to say. In The Witcher he says exactly the words I click on. It's not that hard a concept Bioware, that's always been my one complaint with how they do VO's. I don't want to be afraid to choose things because I'm afraid of what my character will actually say x.x

Yes it did. ME2 is the best selling game in the ME series and Origins outsold it.

Again, Origins outsold every ME game and DA2 sold less than half as many copies as Origins. Just saying that "we" need a new audience doesn't change the facts. classic CRPGs like Origins are still in high demand.

See? Just like that. You continue to insist directly that you're not saying any such thing, while insisting indirectly that you could be saying it if you wanted to and it would be a perfectly reasonable conclusion for you to make even though you're not making it. That is what I mean by hedging. Either your response to aang001 would be entirely ineffectual as a counterpoint, or you actually are saying what you insist you are not.

And no one said you can't make any conclusions so that's a bit of a straw man. The conclusions that can be made are probably more nuanced than most e-warriors with an agenda would like to admit, though.

Closing this thread.

I had asked people to not bother discussing the financial implications of the voiced protagonist and any effect it may have had on DA2's lower sales. This goes for those that disagree with Basil's perspective as well.

It's fine if you think that. It's fine if you think it helped DA2 sales. I actually don't know myself. It's something we aren't equipped to ascertain.

Locking.
