Hey devs, how about some mini games?

I know it may seem inconsiquential, but I think minigames add a lot in my enjoyment of a game. The Witcher 2 had 3 minigames (dice poker, fistfight, arm wrestling) at least, so couldn't DA3 have some as well?
Would like to hear people's thoughts on this.

And even though I *hated* arm wrestling in the witcher, I liked that the mini games were tied to quests, so there was a real benefit to challenging people. It wasn't just "here's a way to waste thirty minutes for no appreciable reason."

I like the duel...only the last one is to the death, against Bendak Starkiller
The swoop racing..well..swooping is bad...i never finish all the tournament, racing track at Manaan is so hard
Anyway...if ever there is duel game in DA3, i approve..and if there is jousting, i approve too...

Totally forgot about swoop racing. Thanks for pointing that out. And I agree about the course on Manaan. It was a **** to finish and beat the record.
The dueling though, never thought of that as a minigame. It was more like a quest, and frankly Dragon Age Origins did it better with the provings in Orzammar.

Yes! Like Assassin's Creed 3! That sucked so much and should have been better thought out.Captain Crash wrote...

But to be honest, I quite enjoyed Skyrim's lockpicking mini game.

How do you beat Manaan? I never can beat that Gemorrean (forgot his name), a shame for Jedi...a shame...
Proving is ok but it don't have the same feeling with dueling in Taris, don't know why, maybe the environment?

This.
Here's my wishlist for minigames:
1. Gambling.
(Some form of gambling would be nice, although easily exploitable)
2. Horse racing.
(Hoping to be able to ride horses, what with the huge maps and all, so this would just take it a step further)
3. Mabari pit-fighting.
(Similar to the ME2 Varren fighting minigame on Tuchanka, but more in-depth would be great)

I've always found it weird there was never a chance to play cards or "drink the most beer" in any of the taverns.

With a skillful aim and good reflexes. You gotta hit as many boost pads as humanly possible. How do you beat Manaan?
I like mini-games. Recently been replaying KOTOR and the Swoop Races still amuse me, Beyond Good and Evil also included a boatload of races in it, and I still enjoy that immensely as well.
Other mini-games I enjoy are skill-based gambling games, like Pazaak. Fable 1 and 2 had gambling of different degrees, I preferred Fable1 due to the fact the games were largely skill based, coin golf and memory games and the like. Fable2 was more about chance, which I hated.
Gambling and Racing. I love them both, but I always prefer mini-games that require skill, Swoop Racing, Pazaak, Coin Golf. I really hate games that rely purely on chance because there's no real "play" involved, in my opinion.
So as long as the mini-games in question are skill-based then I would love to see more mini-games return, either as unimportant side-quests or sources of money.

It did feel a bit out of place but could be a nice change of pace. I might just give this game some time since its been ages since I played it last.

I forgot about that one. I always feel like it's cruel and I'm killing puppies, though. I couldn't even put Urz in the ring. I'm sure he's unbeatable, but I just felt so bad about it.dunstan1993 wrote...

None that are required to complete quests, and preferrably no mini games as quests, at all! At most, an idea like that Mabari pit fights. Pitting dogs against each other for sport. They did it in BG and BG2, and they worked. BUT, PLEASE NO PUZZLES! They almost always break immersion, and they make more sense in action adventure games, than roleplaying games!
MotA's didn't make sense, however well integrated they were. What evil nobleman bothers to setup mostly harmless puzzles for intruders? Surely you'd expect dangerous traps that you have to overcome. Rather than flippy floor puzzles and door puzzles (the latter of which could easily be done by multiple people, but was designed assume only one person would go through them at one time).

I've rarely known mini-games in RPGs to be much more than ignorable at best and utterly detestable at worst. Pazaak was a snoozefest, I kind of hated the turret sequences in KOTOR (and was glad Obsidian didn't bother with them much and made the one in orbit around Onderon optional in KOTOR II), the brawls in CD Projekt RED's Witcher were awful and really not much improved in Witcher 2, every podrace beyond the first mandatory one in KOTOR were frustratingly hard, but mercifully completely optional. Pyjak hunting was okay in ME2, but also a cakewalk. There was no real fun or challenge there.
Alright, I guess having them wouldn't be terrible, but I want them to be mostly, if not entirely optional, so I guess I kind of, sort of take back my "Sten Disapproves"...

If Bioware were to put mini-games into Dragon Age: Inquisition, I would hope that they were at least similar in quality to the ones in the Yakuza series.

Sigh good times...
Anyways, I agree with OP.
Give us mini-events that would further immerse the player in the world. Obviously make it fun and don't end up using it as padding like in Mass Effect 2.
