not the catalyst, so much as the crucible, that 'changed' the catalyst, made 'choices' apparent..available.

According to the Catalyst, the Crucible opened up new possibilities... but Synthesis is still the Catalyst's "perfect solution", not ours.  Seen from it's own emotionless and morality-free logic, not ours.

The Catalyst is the only one that proposes Synthesis.  We are merely enacting it's wishes in re-writing all life into a new format if we choose Synthesis.  We are forcing our evolution in a direction which only the Catalyst desires.

Does that sound familiar?  It should.

"Organic life is nothing but a genetic mutation, an accident.  Your lives are measured in years, and decades, you wither and die.  We are eternal, the pinnacle of evolution, and existence."

"Your civilization is based on the technology of the mass relays, our technology.  By using it, your society develops along the paths we desire.  We impose order on the chaos of organic evolution.  You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it..."

Wow. I wonder if you realize what a bunch of gobbledy-****** that is.

oh, com'on now, you LIKE it.. admit it.. lol

edit: the Image IPB gobbledy-****** arguement always works in terms of evolutionary changes, per se.

I can only giggle as you continue to say things that you apparently think make you seem smart.

Yes, because in a thread full of serious conversation, none of us can make a joke once in awhile.

I wonder... If somebody turned me into a troll with a green beam of energy, would that be evolution?

well, it's a matter of degree and just how serious you may take a reapers ideal of existence to heart. You must admit that reaperships are the intellect of their perspective harvested societies/being. Making it very hard to tell what they mean by what they say/communicate. The aforementioned communcation could just be a distorted concept, eventhough organics everywhere in the MEU use the same tech to prolong their existence. From years to decades. The association isn't lost on me. Life in the universe is, or could be considered 'accidental', so the comment is kind of a general term, in respect to ageless reapers, who are really just synthetic ships with no room to actually talk about accidents in nature. Everything, even reapers whither and die, eventually. Kind of a rule of nature of things. How long does a 'life' have to exist to be considered "a life"? The interplay with reaperships and the catalyst are less than extensive.

Everything is based on some sort of "pinnicle", so I'm not all that impressed by those indoctrinational comments from a reapership, probably programmed to mentally whip any given thrall into their own pre designed shape of being.

Paths we desire it just the catalyst program talking about the trap it's laid for unknowing organic/synthetic beings involved with it's chaos experiment. Synthesis isn't actually part of that experiment, just as the crucible isn't either.

The crucible and the choices negates the catalyst logic and the apparent arguement that it has any control over synthesis, or even considers it.

Who ever designed the crucible and it's choices menu are responsible for those choices to upend the catalyst. Apparently, not Shep nor any "known" parties within the MEU.

I just happen to agree that the synthesis choice is the most viable of any choices considering what lore Shep has to work with in such short notice.

Thank you for not missing the easy joke. Also, for making a post miraculously free of spelling mistakes. But the point still stands. Synthesis, as enacted in the game, is more of a transmogrification than an evolution.

If the Catalyst doesn't lie - Synthesis is fine, although I have NO IDEA HOW and even WHY does it work. IMO it's not against diversity, "free will", "souls" and so on. It's never stated or even suggested that "synthesized" beings are mindless zombies obeying the Reapers.
Furthermore, Synthesis saves past civilizations stored in reaper form.
It somehow abolishes differences between the fighting factions, but on cellular or submolecular level (space magic, indeed), not by huskifying everythink like poor Saren imagined.
I still can't clearly see how does Synthesis stop anything from fighting anything else (maybe achieving consensus is now easier, like in some sort of e-democracy?), but it's my ending of choice, since everyone's green and safe now. I like green.

If the Catalyst is lying then it's either Destroy or IT.

BTW, I didn't know that you get Synthesis option only with high EMS. I guess there's a hint there: "Dude, that's the gold medal. Just sayin' ".

Im not sure what to think of the synthesis ending.

The ending surely looked promising. The future looked nice with the geth and EDI becoming more living and all the other races started to prosper like never before.

And still it somehow feels just....wrong......unnatural. It actually looks a bit creepy with the glowing green eyes and those...circuits in their hands.

That's because it's the same glowing we see in Overlord. Remember David? Yeah, they did that to all existence, while still managing to exist as the biggest threat to the galaxy.

And yes, friendly now or not, if they suddenly decided to turn on us at any point, we're ****ed.

I saw an image of Shepard taking a huge dump into the Synthesis option and then afterward everyone in the galaxy are walking-talking-sythentic-turds. Brilliant.
