Like many others this is the first game I've been able to run multiple playthroughs on and ALWAYS find something I missed the time before. I never get bored with it. I got so invested in the damn story when my female pc didn't happen to be of the correct origin I actually yelled at my screen. And again right after that when it continued to all go downhill. And then again when I didn't get the ending I wanted...
I'm absolutely in love with the story. All the characters are so deep and almost real. I swear I could reach out and touch Alistair. And I've known some women that were ultra sugary sweet (that's how I see Leliana) with a nasty crunchy middle, and some that were just hardcore ****es (Go Morrigan!!). She's not really all that much of one, really. I think there's a heart in there somewhere.
ANYWAY! The whole reason for this bit of rambling is to say that the writing made this my favorite game of all time. There are things that bug me, but they're all like nothing compared to how utterly captivating the story can be. It's like reading my favorite book, but I get to hear and see it brought to life in front of me.

About the comments the companions made upon reaching new areas of the game, I discovered today - and I know that this is a tiny info, but it's what makes it so great - that Zevran had heard of "Wonders of Thedas" even in Antiva City! I never realized till today (third playthrough), that Wonders of Thedas was such an important, renown place
my favorite one is from Morrigan in Orzammar, when she wonders why such small people like dwarfs nevertheless build such impressive and especially tall buildings and what connection might be there?
She said EXACTLY what i was thinking myself at that very moment, that was so awesome

Indeed! He knows how to hit all the secret girl buttons!
I have my amusing momentsBut ironic? Why! I sure hope that "in real life" you're making the best out of all that buttery goodness that you were able to put into Alistair and Zevran....a waste of good man-skills to only use it to make awesome game/book characters that is
I assumed when he said ironic, David Gaider may have been referring to the results of the study reported last week. You know the one that said us women didnt have a "secret girl button?"
Pfft, scientists! What do they know?

When I read comments like these, I believe they are actually meant for you guys. Thought it would be nice that you know how we react out of this forum too! Yes, I cried with the the game but I also felt anger and desire for revenge, happiness and satisfaction, love and friendship but most of all, I laughed out loud a lot and altogether it's been such a great time that I wanted to share it with people.
I could load up some 10 or more pages with comments like these.
Small copy/paste from one video on You Tube... there are much more of these in many more videos!

wow lol i almost peed my self with the brothers part
GrimReaperCalls
LOOL, I didn't even know about this, mayhap I should do a bit less fighting

Some of those combinations had me laughing so hard. Too bad Shale isn't an option for the breakout. Pretty positive Shale would be doing some crushing of heads....and pigeons.
LeafySeeker
Exactly what is this? I must have missed quite a bit if that is actuall in-game. Please, enlighten me, someone?

oghren: I'm the pretty one.

Dwarven dance of death... XD
dechanique
Pretty much awesome. Sten's responses are hilarious- he is an impatient giant with a war dog!! And the Broma Brothers XD Maybe it's funnier since broma in spanish means rouse/trick/joke. XD Ohh Zevran. Great video!
foreignshield69
LMAO 6:30 , "im the pretty one"
LandTorpedo69
lol this seems a lot more entertaining, when I did this I smacked the guard on the head, stole his key and fought my way out. Thought it was the most appropriate plan considering I'm suppose to be the leader.

'I'm the pretty one' I love how serious he said it, i cracked up for minutes
WeaponMasterLDO
This was one of my favorite parts of the game. The dialogue line "Let Dog .... Bluff?" had me laughing for ten minutes. The sad thing is though, he did a much more competent job bluffing than Morrigan did.

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR POSTING THAT!! I was in stitches. When I was in the prison; I broke out myself. I was always curious what would of happened otherwise.

I just wish there were more points that start the banterGoing back and forth across the bridge in Orzammar was really bothersome after a while when I just wanted to get as much banter as possible
Every new area you enter there is a trigger. You really don't need to stick to one place for them, unless you're doing a movie and keep reloading and then go playing the game until something new comes up!

all things considered, Dragon Age would just be a generic Fantasy game... the story has been told a million times, the NPCs have been seen a thousand times that, there are very few truly original bits about the setting or the characters. everything has been seen somewhere before, be it in a computer game, book, movie, comic or tabletop rpg
and all things considered, the game shouldn't draw you into the story, it shouldn't be able to make you care about the characters and their fates, it shouldn't make you talk about said characters with other players as if you're discussing old friends... yeah.
Epic Fail ladies and gentlemen of Orzammar
never before has a game made me HATE a character. never before did i want a fictional character to die a horrible death with so much passion... yet DA:O did that, first with the City Elf origin, then a few more times through the course of the story ...just as many times, it made me nearly destroy my keyboard (should have known better than to try and drink with Sten or Oghren in the party) ...a few dozen more times, it made me go "awwww" ...I'm a guy! we don't go "awwww"! we kill small fuzzy animals and act all manly
and then came the Epilogue. yeah.
no matter what choices you make, you're screwed... you';ll just want to reach into the game, drag the chars out and tell them to stay put
writing a great story about saving the world from the dark hordes of evilness, defending the kingdom and getting the girl? ...pfft, anyone can do that
coming up with clever and witty banter for the NPCs? ...any decent roleplayer can write ten a minute
creating characters that evoke strong feelings and feel real, as well as their story in which others must play a role, then making said story immersive and consistent? ...that, takes talent
hat's off to the writers for a job well done.
even if the rest of the game turned out to be crap (and it was far from) the feeling of satisfaction after finishing (and in dramatic slow motion too!) the castle portion of the City Elf origin was more than enough to justify playing this game
you guys rock, thank you for sharing your vision with us

Balderdash! You mean I have to kiss up to more than ONE person? Doesn't that negate the entire point of kissing arse?

There are so many choices, so many options, each game-play is diffrent. In one I can kill a dog, and end up losing a party member. In another I can choose to save it. The vairiety of it all is just astounding.
The plot works so well for me, and I love the fantasy in it. I truly feel asif I am a Grey Warden, fighting this almighty blight off. Its just a amazing piece
I can't wait for the new expansion, and see what surprises it brings

Dragon Age - Leliana's Song - Trailer Edition
I'm now doing a series on funny NPC characters and some unusual dialogue choices. Some people definitely miss those even with many runs in the game (it's already said on the comments). I'm doing them on the fly as I'm actually playing 5 characters at the same time doing the same areas, so it will take a while to be completed. Anyway, my two latest uploads are for that series (still not playlisted).
And how can I ever thank the whole BioWare Dragon Age team, not only the writers? They gave me some awesome movie material and I went from 200 views to almost 100,000 views since I started making the movies of the game, primarily for my own enterteinment and watching again later!
Well thank you so much for that link! You are right, she is really much prettier there! Much more suited to that beautiful angelic voice!
I will probably drive my husband crazy playing that over and over now! Lovely video!

I can say it's the very first time I get moved to tears by a western RPG, and i play RPGs since the old glorious days of the SSI+AD&D combination.
