It is really hard to elect one combination as favourite... every time I watch them I find them just great. Shale and Sten, Shake and Alistair, Oghren with anyone, even in cutscenes... he gets me LOL every time... "I want more ladies to share me"... lots of ppl missed that.. heh

Leliana and Sten are of course one of the sweetest... she is sooo sweet... I actually enjoyed every single one I captured and there's a lot more I didn't. I don't think it's possible to watch them all with less than some 20 runthroughs... I reloaded a lot and tried many combination for the videos and I still get some new ones in my 6th playthrough.

I did it as a tribute to those who wrote them and I'm glad that ppl watching them enjoy that and suggests some banter not in the series and even comment "I gotta try those companions in a future playthrough... I didn't know what I missed"... For the record, I never did any movies of any games before and I'm surprised that so many ppl are watching them. If they make ppl who don't have the game get interested in it or those who have it just enjoy it more or remember some good laughs, I'm really glad.

Just please stop asking me "what armor is Leliana wearing"!!! =)

I know she looks hot there... that was the intention... She's a BIG SUPERSTAR. I drool every time I watch the Trailer Edition Mod movie where I first saw her in that armor.

A heartfelt thanks from me as well, the game has been a thrilling ride, and I look forward to much more of it, wherever the story may take us, through the betrayels, and the heartaches, the defeats and the victories. A toast to you all!

Rage thank you very much for doing though little movies. Enjoyable to watch and to remember some of the times you heard them.

I do remember once in the Dwarf city, one conversation, but when I reloaded the game. The conversation was different. I think it depends on when you get to an area, who is in the party, and what you have just done.

Another thing I've seen, and maybe others can verfi this also, is that those conversations happen in only some areas,

If you step on the bridge over to the Proving Grounds, you will get conversations, It's like you have touched a trigger. A trigger you can't see as you play the game, but if you could see the game in the toolset then you would know where the triggers are.

One request (might be patchable):

Could banter be triggered when I visit the party camp? Maybe if I walk up to the camp fire...

That way if I use the same three characters for the majority of the game, I can still experience the interactions between the other characters...

At the moment, I had to watch a lot of you tube videos that RageGT uploaded instead....

Another suggestion (for future developments) would be incorporating the "gifts" into the party banters... Maybe Leliana could be telling Wynne about the lovely shoes the PC got her (as a hypothetical example)...

Sometimes I wish I could have a say in what is said. Instead of what you have a choice to say, that you had a way to say something yourself to the others. Yet we can't because so many people would say things that maybe just aren't right and it would mess up the game

Actually, the fact that the player can't participate in the banter was something we couldn't avoid. I would have liked to do it, but the way the engine works you either have the full cutscene-like conversation -- which stops all action and zooms in to provide you with reply options -- or it's ambient dialogue that is going on around you. We didn't want banter to force the player to stop and listen to it if they didn't want to, and there's no way for us to provide response options to ambient dialogue you may not be paying attention to.

Glad you enjoyed the banter, however. Posted Image

Just to point it out, this can't be laid solely at my doorstep -- Sheryl Chee and Mary Kirby are responsible for just as much writing as I was, and some of their stuff is far funnier than mine is.

I just wanted to confirm your decision.  Nothing was more annoying in  KOTOR than frequent forced party banter (that and un-skipable cut-scenes).  I was pleasantly surprised to be able to continue exploring, etc. and be able to observe my party interact.  Sometimes I stop what I'm doing to listen in if it really catches my attention.  So good on ya!

@Ginasue There are several trigger points around Ferelden and yes, they only happen after PC hits one of them. The same banter may happen in many different locations though. I think they are related to the stage in the story that we are at.

@Torias It might be a mess... assuming you recruited many of the NPC companions... if they all started talking at the same time... =) It is really worthy trying different party setups and if you're having the same three in one run, different 3 in the next might be a lot of fun both for the banter and for the different combat possibilities!

The gifts ones would be fun...
Sten: looook at this beatiful painting of a goose girl I was given!!!
Leliana: (giggles) Softie!!!!

I have found a couple of those spots, just was easy to talk about the one in the dwarf city. I'm on my third play of the game. Human/Dalish/Human, and each time, it's different, depends on who's in the party at the time, where you are in the game.

I just love it, I like to save, change members just to do those banters and see what others have to say at the time.

And now if I don't go to bed, will be too tired to play tomorrow. Wait never to tired to play the game.

As good as these DAO banters may be, no one beats Jan Jansen from BG2 with his far-flung stories. ^^

This was one of the few things I actually enjoyed, but only when Sten, Morrigan, and Allistair were all in the party. Their interactions were a welcome, amusing distraction.

It seriously reminds me of Baldur's Gate. I particularly enjoyed when you let the game sit for awhile and didn't input any orders for awhile:

"Ahem."

"Can we go now?"

"Borrrrring."

"Are we going to stand here all day?"

Etc.

Me too!  My still all-time favourite was the female half-demon character with a tail (voiced by Sheena Easton) that suddenly said to the (always leering) flaming skull, "Quit looking at me tail, ya skull!"  classic.  Sadly, I played BG several times & only heard it once.  Posted Image

Just thought I'd pass along another wholehearted thank you for the writing team :) I think I wasn't the only one who began the game with (however mild it may have been) preconception of the companions and have been pleasantly surprised by the layers of their personality. Sure, maybe we didn't get to see all of it, and some companions kept their own council when it came to their motives, but that, for me, made them even more appealing and memorable.

Once again, thank you, guys!

i only encountered one 3 way party banter. it was with Zevran, Alistair and Morrigan. although Alistair only says 1 sentence, but still. 3 people were involved in that conversation. and it was funny as hell. though i won't say much as i might spoil it for you.

I'd like to see the banter occur much more often, perhaps a slider bar in the options that you can set for how much you want to hear it. My guess is most of us would max that.

Although I didn't write any of the companions, I can say it was wonderful writing in the Dragon Age setting. I especially enjoyed writing Master Wade and Herren. People were staring at me when I was writing them and laughing to myself. I'm not mad I tell you. No, the voices tell me I'm quite sane. :)

Not the way banter works currently. When you enter the camp, you no longer have anyone in your party... everyone is "kicked out", as it were, until you leave. So it's not something we could patch in without changing the way banter works (which always checks to see who's in your party currently), even if we wanted to... and I'm not sure I'd be willing to make the camp a "dialogue zone" any more than it already is. To be honest, I'd almost rather make it so that the only way to truly develop a party member's relationship with you is that you have to take them along in the active party. But that's another thing entirely.

David, I can see your point. Some of the members I rarely use in party, yet I get their approval up very high, just by the gift and the few times that I use them.

Realistically if someone was in your party they wouldn't ever be in camp. We should be able to lead a small squad :P

I can understand the challenges of such a choice, but it would have made sense. As a matter of fact, even if the game allows me otherwise, I try to develop meaningful relationship only with the handful of companions I always bring with me, which are usually Zevran, Wynne and Alistair (but I'm trying to experiment during my second - and third, since I'm playing them side by side - playthrough).

Anyway, there are three banter dialogues that happen, respectively, between Zevran and Shale, Zevran and Oghren and Zevran and Leliana that are priceless - particularly the Shale's one, which is pure genius.
