Bioware's reactivity is tough to measure, because they focus on a lot of small details, and not the large, dramatic changes that I think a lot of people expect when they make choices like committing genocide or saving a galactic political superpower.

In general, I think there is never going to be "enough" reactivity. Because this is part of roleplaying and the player using their imaginations before getting to see the results. Players will always be able to imagine something far more grandiose and unrealistic than what a video game could ever reasonably implement. And that is not a bad thing, but gamers and devs both have to walk a thin line between what is reasonable to expect and what gives the player a real sense of accomplishment and gratification.

The problem is that the devs aren't realistic about this. As dissapointing as it is - we've tried to have the rachni choice have scale without it overwhelming the entire game =! rachni will have massive consequences!

Hope is all I have to go on; I'm still hoping for an import fix for DA2 to recognize my decision to free the mages in DAO.

You can stop hoping. When Alistair tells you that the chantry denied the request, that's exactly how the game is scripted to react.

Meredith would still tell Alistair that it isn't in his rights when he declared them free, whether or not they were freed in canon you still get that extra dialogue if you chose the Magi boon in DAO.

DA has a very shaky track record with save imports. If it's going to be bugged, better to not have it at all.

Mass Effect's worked flawlessly except for one problem in ME2 which was lampshaded in ME3. Maybe it was a higher priority for that team that it work properly.

If there is one hope it is that they have tried pretty much every technique under the sun across their franchises when it comes to save importing. Let's hope they have a formula for the perfect way to do it now after feedback.

actually, if you are referencing Conrad's appearance in ME2, that was actually (somewhat) intentional, not a glitch. They created that scene to only show for players who actually did threaten Conrad, but during QA/peer review, so many players said they enjoyed it and wished it would happen in every playthrough that they made it so it did. However, they didn't have time to re-record the VA, so the dialogue after like you did threaten Conrad, even if you didn't. So I'm not sure you can lay that at the feet of an import bug.

That being said, the ME team has the Face Import but at their feet, possibly one of the biggest import gaffs to date, so they hardly have a clean slate.

If the rumors are true and DA3 just let's you set up the game world when you start as you see fit, it will be better than it currently is. That way, they can limit the decisions that carry over to just the ones that 'really matter' and can hopefully create a good amount of custom content with it. Having the entire file import over sets expectations too high.

That's actually not what I heard.

There is dialogue fro those who took the paragon route for Conrad on the disk.  However, the flags for both the paragon and renegade responses are triggered if Conrad is alive.  The renegade response is just the one that gets shown in-game.  Thus everyone gets the "threatened Conrad" response.

Your correct if you have a ME2 save game editor you can switch the flags and you can get the proper paragon dialogue. If you don't want to go to those lengths to hear it, YouTube is your friend
