I leave the clutches of Bioware Social behind several months ago while I concentrate on other games, buy and finish Mass Effect 1 on the PS3 but stumble into some issues over this last week, come back to get some help and think, "Yes, I do believe it's time to fangirl over Garrus once more!", head on over to the aforementioned forum and find it closed with word from our Supreme Overlord Christ Priestly saying "There is entirely too much fighting, rule breakage and petty bickering in the threads here."

What gives? I realize 3 months is a long time on any forum, but anyone still about who knows what fighting was going on?

Miranda civil war trolling in most of the threads and some "unusual threads" if you get my drift. All in all it is a shame since the romance and character parts of any bioware games are generally the best

Orly? Just that?

The Garrus forum was always pretty respectful. If it's true, seems a shame to close over one thread.

Woe upon the primitives who has prevented peaceful, non-primitive discussion in Javik's thread.

Better moderation should have been implemented instead of simply closing the entire forum.

How can there be a civil war about Miranda?

I take it you never visited that thread then. I ventured in from time to time, it always cheered me up.

It's ridiculous that BW had to surrender a forum for three months now because they don't know how to moderate.

It's always sad if a forum section gets locked, but I'm sure they had their reasons.

I suspect they weren't keen on the spam and off topic natter heavy, and rather cliquish, character fan threads in general.  Hence why they're in no particular hurry to reopen.

What was the Miranda civil war about anyway? Sounds immature as **** if you ask me.

Even with the Civil War, there was still no reason to close the entire forum

It all began with a vicious argument over what camera angle made Miranda's ass look best.

"This isn't about strategy or tactics," noted one poster. "We ogle, or we die"

Unfortunately, not everyone agreed, with other posters referring to the original poster as a "big stupid jellyfish", "cereal-stealer" and other, worse, names. It pretty much went downhill from there.

I'm told it's due to some sort of schism between the Mirimancers, Taboo was probably somehow involved.

Really? I was not aware of the civil war. I thought Bioware was now beginning to dismantle the RPG fan base to make room for the all the shooter fans and such and the Romance thread was the first to go.

*Sadface*

It was us. The Miranda romancers...

The user known as Taboo was a big part of it. I know this because I was also heavily involved as well, to a lot of the same extent.

http://social.biowar.../index/14345382

I am truly sorry for contributing to getting that forum shut down for everyone. Especially the people of other characters who had a very respectful and sane group. They went to bed one day talking about Jack, the next day they were closed down.

The basic issue was that we a lot of us Miranda romancers have some strong, differing opinions. We were pretty much polarized in opinion with everything under the sun, even outside of ME. There are members of the group (I've learned my lesson. I keep my mouth shut and disappear when they say stuff) that for me, is literally impossible to find any sort of common ground with, and there is a particular member who has a tendency to look down his nose (wether he realizes it or not; I'm not saying that to be mean, but just the way he talks to people can be easily interpreted as this) at other posters of differing opinion.

We let those differences get the better of us. A lot of us are very strong minded and willed. The basic idea was that there was a so called ruling cabal of the Miranda page who enforced their opinion of Miranda, and that the group that I fell in disagreed and we separated completely from that group, again with an ambiguous motive to form our own cabal.

It was..... messy. And pretty bloody.

The two groups are pretty much like North and South Korea right now.

Also BW is trying to get rid of the RPG elements to their games, and the romance forum was the first to go. Plus, Priestly is a well known disliker of romance in games.

Sorry..You misread me. I don't want the RPG aspects to go away. In fact I was a tad saddened when the thread closed. An to be honest that Idea of Bioware trying to remove the RPGers is just a crack pot theory of mine.

Yeah it says something when the multiplayer forum is better behaved than the story forum
