I think Priestly was looking for reason to lock down that forum anyway. The ridiculous back and forth warring between the two factions of Mirimancers gave him an excuse.
Funny thing is that a moderator (Don't know who but I remember reading something like that in Miri threads) gave permission to Taboo-XX to make another thread which caused this mess and at the time I thought that all was just temporary and that board would be reopened after the mirimancer herpderp.
Both miri campers should've get banned (for violating BSN rules) and the rebel mirimancer thread should've been locked up, instead of locking up the whole board. Its unfair and I'm seriously disappointed in Chris' decision to keep it that way. Afterall, Its his job to make sure that BSN keeps clean from stuff like this.

BioWare tends to respond to complaints or problems by removing them entirely, instead of trying to rectify the problem. Take the Mako sections of ME1 for example. People complained about those, and so the Mako was hardly mentioned and never controllable in ME2 and ME3.fil009 wrote...
Better moderation should have been implemented instead of simply closing the entire forum.

It was us. The Miranda romancers...
The user known as Taboo was a big part of it. I know this because I was also heavily involved as well, to a lot of the same extent.

I am truly sorry for contributing to getting that forum shut down for everyone. Especially the people of other characters who had a very respectful and sane group. They went to bed one day talking about Jack, the next day they were closed down.
The basic issue was that we a lot of us Miranda romancers have some strong, differing opinions. We were pretty much polarized in opinion with everything under the sun, even outside of ME. There are members of the group (I've learned my lesson. I keep my mouth shut and disappear when they say stuff) that for me, is literally impossible to find any sort of common ground with, and there is a particular member who has a tendency to look down his nose (wether he realizes it or not; I'm not saying that to be mean, but just the way he talks to people can be easily interpreted as this) at other posters of differing opinion.
We let those differences get the better of us. A lot of us are very strong minded and willed. The basic idea was that there was a so called ruling cabal of the Miranda page who enforced their opinion of Miranda, and that the group that I fell in disagreed and we separated completely from that group, again with an ambiguous motive to form our own cabal.
It was..... messy. And pretty bloody.
The two groups are pretty much like North and South Korea right now.
Also BW is trying to get rid of the RPG elements to their games, and the romance forum was the first to go. Plus, Priestly is a well known disliker of romance in games.
The way you are talking about this event reminds of my college years, where me and my fellow revolutionaries, best buds, got separated over our differences on the legitimacy of Kurdish rights movements, turned hostile and even fought each other, two of us got stabbed. I was tasked to report the events to the headmaster of our youth movement by e-mail, with this exact language.
But you are talking about... fanatic disagreement over virtual sex with Yvonne Strahovski. In a video game. Dude, seriously? What the f*ck is wrong with you guys?

You have to acknowledge the amount of "I have nothing better to do" is too high on this social network. I mean, of course we, gamers, have a good time here, writing great fictions, discussing the amazing sci-fi stories that brought us together here.Icesong wrote...
Was overreacting and a lack of humor what led to the stabbings as well?
But the amount of people getting too attached to the virtual environment created for them to "have fun in spare time", even getting so fanatic about it that they spend their valueable time arguing over which character is better to have sex with in a damn video game, with a language so hostile the admins of the forum have to close an entire section, this is just not right. May be this is the grumpy guy in me talking, but this concerns me about the mental health of the socially troubled people among these debaters.
Just wanted to express it with the right language and anectode it deserved, I'm sorry if I have unwillingly overreacted.

When I saw the forum was closed, I assumed it was either Ash or Miri haters, not some split in Miri lovers.

Yes, him or EAware at large might've realize the damage these romance creeps who were obsessing over what's at best 1% of game content were doing to the reputation of their brand.

I don't know, isn't obsessing over 1% of the game also exactly what this forum section tends to do (I'm referring to the ending here, of course)?Seboist wrote...

If Bioware closes the storyboards and ends all ending discussions then there will be plenty of gaming media sites posting propaganda about how Bioware is silencing their critics.

While I consider the obsession over an ending to a story that was garbage from the start silly that's still more worthy of hundreds of pages of discussion than a handful of brief conversations and a one minute romance scene.

I can think of no more glorious feat of mind and will than arguing on the internet about a fictional video game woman.
