So here I am, trying to beat the arch-demon with my party (rogue (PC), Zevram, Alistair, Morrigan), tried 3 times and failed. Basically, it wasn't the dragon killing me (I had spirit balms), it was the dark spawn adds. My wife says she's ready to play. So in return for a hug, my six year-old daughter has a try at it with my party.

Very quickly, Zevram and Alistair are slain, so it's just the PC and Morrigan left. My daughter runs away from the dragon, otherwise just uses her range attacks (a bow). She doesn't use the spirit balm, since she knows nothing about it, and just heals when low health. Whenever possible, she would stay with the mages/archers (the mages were all killed at one point) to protect herself from the adds. She did nothing with the ballistas (which I was trying to use). The PC has a rapid aim bow, so he was unloading pretty fast.

Morrigan was eventually killed. Also, the dragon ran away from the elvish archers. So my daughter charges the dragon and uses her bow.  She was excited and told me the arch-demon was low health. So I gave her tips about the spirit balms so she wouldn't have to heal all the time. Otherwise, she just kept attacking and the dragon was content to exchange ranged attacks.  She did periodically have to switch to melee weapons to finish off darkspawn, but if there were many of them she just ran to the archers/mages for protection, then back at it, attacking the arch demon from range - success! A six year old girl took down the arch-demon, when a 38-year old male couldn't...what's the world coming to?

My daughter was very proud of her victory, and talked about it much over the next 48 hours...small price to pay I guess.

EDIT: forgot to mention this is on Normal difficulty level.

That's cute; I guess i would have been scared of a dragon in the screen, at 6, let alone defeating it. :)

My daughter Hanna has been playing computer games since she was 2 years old, so it doesn't really faze her. At first she thought she was going to take out the dragon easily, but when 1/2 the party died she became much more cautious. She nearly gave up several times, but I encouraged her, and that was enough for her to keep at it. Once she noticed she was actually having some success (dragon's health going down), she started to get excited. She's very passionate about her gaming, like her Dad. She's a smart cookie too - she's the top her kindergarten class. They gave her a pre-test before entering kindergarten and she's already aced everything before she was even taught by the school. My wife and I teach her and our son about everything as we live our life, and Hanna actually remembers most of what we teach her.
