When to start going gold?

More specifically, weapon upgrade levels or specific weapons? Specific characters etc? Or just more patience? lol
I feel overpowered in Bronze and underpowered in Silver for the most part.
The main reason I ask is I would prefer to NOT be a liability in a Gold match.

I still weigh in at third, sometimes se one, occasionally first. But when I started I was getting carried in a big way.
One day I'll be able to carry a gold team. Until then, I'll just keep earning my stripes. I advise the same for all mid to high tier silver players. Jump in and learn as you go.

Also, if you are on PC, I'd be happy to play some games with you, I only play Gold + and have some very fun and polite MP friends, so I could probably get a full lobby going.

Do you have a regular group of friends? If so, just try it out and see how it feels. Honestly, the best way to find out is to just dive in. Or if you have a mic, when you enter a random lobby, just explain your situation and see if they will mind playing with you. Don't be intimidated or discouraged, especially by threads here...

I have the PS3 version. The friends that could do it all play pretty late into the night and I work 12 hr days starting at 6 am so hard to jive the times.
I do have a mic but I notice very few others do so I usually have it disabled until I see someone else with one.

Hmm well then, I'd say just go for it! Try it out, have fun, and see how well you do.

Generally speaking, once you've got a favorite Gold weapon around III, and you've got a level 20 character you're comfortable with you're good to go.

You have a Hurricane and a Claymore, both of which are Gold-viable at I. I'd say buy a bunch of veteran packs to level up your uncommon mods, then you'll be ready. You might also want to get your medigel capacity up over 3 first, but that's up to you.
The medigel capacity would be nice. Seems to be so illusive for me. Are those in Spectre packs? I have been concentrating on Veteran packs and alternating the between the 2 new packs they recently released.

When you're topping the silver scoreboard consistently.
Or when Silver has become too easy, although the latter might mean you've spent too much time on Silver.

Yeah, they're in SP and PSP.
