Is there a standard if you will that most of you Vets would suggest for starting to play gold matches without getting you butt handed to you?

More specifically, weapon upgrade levels or specific weapons? Specific characters etc? Or just more patience? lol

I feel overpowered in Bronze and underpowered in Silver for the most part.

The main reason I ask is I would prefer to NOT be a liability in a Gold match.

As soon as you are over your limit. You can tell because of how the waiter looks at you when he hands you back the credit card.

When you begin to feel overpowered in Silver take it to Gold. I just made this step myself, and I will tell you that you will die a lot more than you did in Silver, but it is more challenging, and with a good team, more fun.

As soon as you're not worried about carrying a few waves solo in Silver, you won't be a liability in Gold. When you laugh at the idea of actually wiping in Silver, you'll be ok on Gold.

Your first couple of gold runs, you will suck. The curve is steep, but you CANNOT get become a gold-level player until you play gold matches.
I still weigh in at third, sometimes se one, occasionally first. But when I started I was getting carried in a big way.

One day I'll be able to carry a gold team. Until then, I'll just keep earning my stripes. I advise the same for all mid to high tier silver players. Jump in and learn as you go.

When you feel ready. Or if you have friends of equal skill as yourself. If you are really unsure, the moment you start getting flawless silver matches (meaning, not getting downed at all) then you are more than ready. Though that might take too long to achieve.

Do you have a regular group of friends? If so, just try it out and see how it feels. Honestly, the best way to find out is to just dive in. Or if you have a mic, when you enter a random lobby, just explain your situation and see if they will mind playing with you. Don't be intimidated or discouraged, especially by threads here...

Also, if you are on PC, I'd be happy to play some games with you, I only play Gold + and have some very fun and polite MP friends, so I could probably get a full lobby going.

I started with bronze first (10 games or more) and than moved to silver for about 3~5 games and fought in gold.

I am decent at the game itself. When I get a good group of friends (hard to do with differing schedules) we can get some decent silver matches with only a few downs when the stuff hits the fan in the last few waves. My weapons just feel weak to me in Silver.

I have the PS3 version. The friends that could do it all play pretty late into the night and I work 12 hr days starting at 6 am so hard to jive the times.
I do have a mic but I notice very few others do so I usually have it disabled until I see someone else with one.

Hmm well then, I'd say just go for it! Try it out, have fun, and see how well you do.

You have a Hurricane and a Claymore, both of which are Gold-viable at I. I'd say buy a bunch of veteran packs to level up your uncommon mods, then you'll be ready. You might also want to get your medigel capacity up over 3 first, but that's up to you.

Try Gold. If it's too hard, oh well. Your teammates missed one extraction, no need to worry about it.

Generally speaking, once you've got a favorite Gold weapon around III, and you've got a level 20 character you're comfortable with you're good to go.

The medigel capacity would be nice. Seems to be so illusive for me. Are those in Spectre packs? I have been concentrating on Veteran packs and alternating the between the 2 new packs they recently released.

Find a character you are comfortable with and can top scores in silver, consistently. Emphasis on consistent. When you get there gold will be a challenge but not one you will hate.

Or when Silver has become too easy, although the latter might mean you've spent too much time on Silver.

Yeah, they're in SP and PSP.
