launch. The most recent of which, Return to Ostagar, has been delayed
until the end of January at the earliest. Is there any explanation as
to why the delay occurred? Is it solely to release the DLC for all
three platforms at the same time, or was there another issue?
Fernando Melo:No, it has nothing to do with platforms
themselves. It's a quality issue where, literally, at the last minute,
we spotted something that had made it through our own testing, EA's
testing and was at Microsoft already. But it applies to all three
platforms; it wasn't something specific to Microsoft, we just happened
to catch it there first. We probably could have gone with it, but it's
something that was serious enough that we felt it impacted the quality
[of the DLC] and we made the choice to delay it to give our fans the
best experience with it. That was the reason behind [the delay] -- we
want to make sure that we don't cut any corners when we do the DLC.
There's already a lot of content out, there's a lot more coming -- we
just announced the expansion pack, and there's more coming after that.
I think the worst thing we could do after that is do anything "to
poison the well," to use the expression, or put fans off from feeling
that they're getting the best content from us. It's a long term
decision instead of a short term decision"

Why wouldn't BioWare give us the information first? Why go to another website to give the fans information like this? Why not just post a thread here?
Why?
this info was given somewhere throughout the hundreds of posts about the delay. several bioware devs commented on quality issues prior to release.

And please try NOT to pin Bioware down to a release date.

Unfortunately, by holding off this dlc until the end of January, they've basically guaranteed that many, including myself, won't be purchasing it. Why? Because I'll be too busy playing Mass Effect 2. January 5 was a fantastic release date, because it's the only lull in game releases for the next 4-5 months. I'd rather we received RTO with whatever bug was plaguing it with a guarantee that we'd receive a patch at a later date.
They originally planned RtO to be released before Christmas in order to take advantage of the holiday shopping spree. The biggest long-term problem with this delay is that the time and money they spend debugging RtO is time they could not spend on creating the next DLC.

When it is released is actually irrelevant, the main issue is the DLC being polished enough to satisfy the Whiniest of us.
And please try NOT to pin Bioware down to a release date.
The smart thing then is to release it before that week.

I'm gonna play Devil's Advocate here, and point out that it is IGN who said the end of Jan date, not the Bioware guy.
That is very true

The Bioware guy didnt correct him either

Most of us dont need to be coddled? Frankly, i dont care why it was delayed. If Bioware wants to hold it back to tweak and polish, fine with me. I am eager to play it and have had the points purchased since it was first announced but i would much rather wait and have the usual quality than get it sooner and have a lesser product.
Coddled? How is it coddling, to inform the Official Dragon Age Forum before some third party site like IGN.com?
I don't care for DLC, and have no intention of purchasing any DLC for Dragon Age, but obviously (based on the amount of threads about the delay) a ton of BioWare fans are interested in the details of the delay.
Obviously the easiest way for BioWare to communicate with its fans is via this website. Why would they post pertinent information on IGN's website before they share that same information on their own site? It kind of defeats the purpose of having a Dragon Age website. Or at least it defeats the purpose of having developers post in the forums, if we can get better info from IGN.
