So today I got my Corsair Neutron GTX  240GB SSD, now I need help setting everything up. What I'm having trouble with is how to migrate Windows 7 onto my SSD from my HDD without having to reinstall it again. Now I haven't got the slightest clue of how to do that, all I heard was about AHCI being enabled on my BIOS which it was and something about Smart Response Technology found in Z77 mobos which should make things simpler. That's some of the stuff I got, but I would like help. Then I heard some stuff about cloning my hard drive so I could get the necessary data onto the SSD.

However, here's what I don't get, if I just move windows from my HDD to my SSD, why would I need to clone my HDD or whatever, are there some applications that won't move simply by moving windows? Also I'd like to move Steam to my SSD, however I don't want to have to reinstall my games once I change my install location. So if anyone can provide clear instructions on what exactly it is that I have to do to get everything set up, I would be grateful.

I recommend using Acronis True Image to create an image of your current system drive, then rebooting and "restoring" the image to your SSD drive (also using Acronis tools).

Worked like a charm for me.

I hope that's free, if I have to pay I'll just reinstall windows.

HDD makers usually have free clone/backup image utilities.

For example, if you have a WD HDD, you can download Acronis from WD's website for free.

I don't know about Corsair, but you can look it up.

Too late for that, I did the clean install, besides from what I've heard that ensures better performance, quite frankly I don't know. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to sort through all the crap I left on the other hard drive to find what works and what I will get rid off.
