Also together with ENB makes light sources (and fiery weapons, such as Saturnite Fist Super-Heated, Shishkebabs, also all small control, alarm lights, etc.) have an awesome glow and contrast. Together they really change a lot how this game looks.
Those and the Ojo/Poco Bueno Texture packs.
Regarding monsters, many types ae rather... territorial and limited to certain areas, rather then spread all over the place. Makes perfect sense for me.

Nevada Skies makes the scenery quite dark during nights and inside. The Pip-Boy light (long Tab press) is absolutely necessary. But you still cannot see further then maybe 3m during the night. And you will miss some objects inside withough the lightsource as well.

Damn, Nevada Skies really make it that hard to see in the dark!? Makes me wish my laptop could run the game. I can just imagine visiting Camp Searchlight, too bad ghouls don't do much damage.

There is no good in Killing Cazadors. The loss (lethal poison) is more than the benefit (XP and dem Sting)
I can't play games with dark dungeons because light-dark contrast gives me migraines, so I hope they never go that way for the base game.

The dark nights did annoy me a bit, but when I tried turning Nevada Skies off, I was terrified how bleak and bland the game looks without all the glowing, high contrast light sources.
Without the graphic mods, the game's graphics are barely passable (mostly due to strange choices in regard to game lighting, shadows and color palette), with them it can sometimes rival Skyrim.

The one problem I had with FONV - and the reason I still prefer FO3 even though NV has better writing in some respects - is that we're basically given a character that is a complete blank slate *except* for the fact of being inclined to stick his/her nose into dangerous political conflicts no matter what.
The first time I played NV, I thought of my character as someone who's very ethical and altruistic, but with more of a "small-picture" outlook and distrustful of authority - quests like helping the ghouls launch their rocket or busting Joanna and the other prostitutes out of Gomorrah were more appealing to her than, say, confronting Caesar directly or recruiting half the Wasteland to fight for one side or the other. Eventually, I had to just give up on this since the game wouldn't advance otherwise.
Also, while OWB was amusing for a while, I found the "wackiness" to be a little over the top. I mean, I left my brain in a jar at the end of it.

Having a great time. I love it...so addicting and rewarding. I'm sidequesting right now for the most part...did the Kings quests, tasks for the Crimson Caravan and Silver Rush, and then helped Cass beat both after I explored the caravan wreckages. I'm living up in Lucky 13...and I haven't explored a lot of other casinos other then a little of Tops. Have discovered a lot of locations but still have oodles more to find.
I'm having an absolute blast. I'm duel-specializing in Guns and Energy Weapons...with Lockpicking and a Tag Perk Barter focus. I think the writing is great, I like how some quests aren't available based on your skill, and I think there is plenty to explore.
I'm doing a couple more side quests and then I'm headed up river to try and receive the chip. I might do some desert wasteland exploring up north, too. At least a lot more. Taking my time and not rushing, as I tend to do with games. I have a nice cache of loot neatly organized and I'm enjoying having Cass tag along for now. Had Raul follow for a little. I like Cass.
If i find a place to explore I won't explore at the time, I write a note of it on paper so I can come back later. I found a sniper rifle...gold...from the Snipers' Nest overlooking Cottonwood Cove and I love it....great for sniping deathclaws on a ledge near the quarry...and I found a prototype energy weapon on a plane crash down south near the airport. I have dozens upon dozens of different weapons. The faction system is great, really awesome stuff.
I adored Fallout 3, but I like New Vegas a little more.

^Where are you dying? Have you tried sniping?
Already killed 5 prisoners on the nearby hill.
The best Rifle I have right now is 'Cowboy Repeater', sniping isn't possible (has the least of effect) unless you have at least the 'Hunting Rifle' one.

It's not that bad, honestly. The biggest aspect of it that increases micro-management is ammo weight, but even that is reasonable if you only carry ammo that you actually plan on using, not vendoring.IllusiveManJr wrote...
I want to do a Hardcore play through. But I dislike micromanaging.
There are a lot of mods that make Hardcore mode hardcorier and for a good reason. It is merely a minor annoyance, unless you're out of water and haven't drunk anything for days

I decided to upgrade the House's army for potential personal gain. I'm having a rough time betraying Mr. House just because he hooked me up with sweet shindigs. Soon gonna go out exploring the remainder of up north and check out Camp McCarren on the outskirts. Went there once for the Crimson Caravan (which I eventually butchered with Cass) and it seeks they do Vault research. Finally found two vaults....34 & 11. Found the Fatman after exiting Fire Root Cavern...but zero ammo til now. Fun, fun...loving this game.
Hrm, after rerolling DA:O that's definitely another title I need to get into again - if only to don Panzercop armour and kill everything in the name of the Princeps with MG42 in hand.
Definitely check in on the mod-community, nexus especially offers some quality stuff. Even if one could argue that some of it may not fit the scenery all that well, it is still glorious fun.
I have been looking around for a while without success, but is there some mod that allows offing Yes-Man, if only via altering the epilogue-slide of choosing no allegiance in the NCR-Legio conflict? Letting that damn annoying thing and its bots remain in one piece never sat right with me...

I literally just downloaded that mod, no MG-42 sadly but goddamn the armor is sexy.

Edit: Just to clarify I'm not complaining that it's difficult. It's just a little boring and lackluster compared to the other DLCs. My interest wasn't really perked (is that the right English word?) until the very end of the DLC. It just feels like a chore compared to say Old World Blues.
