I'm not much of a solo'er so I'm trying my first Silver solos. All my mission waves are trhe 1234 hacks - I'd kill for a assasination wave or two compared to this stuff.  I prepared for this by rolling as an Asari Huntress so I'd have some TC. Problem is that, epsecially vs the Geth, it appears way, way, way too many of these things can see through TC. I don't mean they keep shooting where I was or I get in the line of fire. I mean I have broken LoS/LoF pre-cloak and they walk right up and start shooting me.

Bombers can see through cloak - I mean they stun shoot and grenade me. Prime drones can, turrets not so much. The Primes themselves can. The Banshees also walked right up to me cloaked and did the hug o' love. Are there certain foes that just ignore TC?

Alot of it depends on your proximity to the target. Usually Primes don't see through it at long range, but bosses always have generalized radar so they know your general direction.

But if you get too close to stuff, they can see you just like you can see a Hunter.

The Geth can spread LoS to other Geth in the vicinity. If even one has a bead on you, several others can see you, as well.

They still typically have to relocate to get an angle on you, during which you can break LoS and sneak away. That's when you'll typically see them shooting at where you were. Don't be afraid to put some distance between you and them, to give yourself a chance to find a better tactical position.

As far as the 1234 device objectives, I find some locations/enemies can be practically impossible to achieve those while soloing, but I'm not one of the übergamers that can solo gold/platinum.

Maybe TC is like wearing the one ring and all the enemys are ringwraiths?

...and that would be what? I know not to TC in place X and then not expect to get shot at place X. Things will "fire down the wire" as well but when I TC out of LOS and then move to an objective why are things not just randomly firing but coming up to me (Bombers/Banshees) and taking potshots?

When you cloak, are you running past them directly to the objective? Or are you cloaking, running to a point in another direction from the objective, firing on them to draw their fire/attention to that point and *then* cloaking and running to the objective?

Sometimes, depending on your position relative to the objective and map layout, you need that intermediary step to draw them to point further from your objective.

Primes don't see you actually. Its the drone. All units near the drone will ignore cloak. It always seems like the prime can see you but if you see a prime that has its drone floating way off, you'll see that it doesn't see you at all

All unit when you are soloing will cheat and check your current position (at the time they cheat) peroidically. Also tracking weapons like the geth rockets will ignore your cloak whenever they are fired. The rocket troopers won't see you at all but they will blind fire their missiles which due to the entire tracking weapon rules will just ignore cloak. The missiles will not hit you if you're not in the forward arc (eg you're behind a rocket trooper who blind fires. The rocket will hit the ground)

There are many more rules to cloak and you can search for them using the forum search if you need to know more

People take the turn invisible thing a little too much to heart. The power should be called Tactical Damage Boost or Tactical Aggro Drop. If you solo, where is the aggro supposed to go?

Still works, though. It took me a long time, but I can avoid them tracking me down automatically most of the time I'm playing alone.

during a solo, cloak doesn't do much to pull aggro off of you since there are no other enemies to target.

Also i can swear that the huntress cloaked doesn't work as well as other infiltrators. we know the weapon damage is bugged and doesn't work but it seems like cloak does nothing to pull agrro off of you for some reason

Oh ffs.

http://social.biowar.../index/13287526

Above thread is on enemy detection mechanics. Tactical Cloak is a detection debuff, but due to the way the enemy AI spreads info and "peeks behind the curtain", TC is not always reliable.

You have to use TC in a certain way. Reading up on how enemy detects you is a good way to understand how to make TC work for you.

During soloing or last-man-standing the AI periodically is allowed a peak at your current location so that they're always on the hunt and keep the pressure on you.

The Geth Prime drone can see through cloak, I think. And enemies have a hearing range dependent on their rank in which they can detect your movement.
Also enemies that lock on (Ravagers, Primes and Rocket Troopers for example) seem to have some funky things going on.

...and I think the "peeking" is what is getting me during those 1234 things based on what I'm reading. I didn't expect 100% invisibility but I did expect that it would at least keep them from homing in on my exact spot. I'm assuming they know an exact spot and that is why they shoot where they saw me during their peek because otherwise I'd expect to see a lot of things around me but not firing AT me.

pug yesterday : Gold/London/Geth 2 primes on wave 9. I had only 3 missiles left (after soloing 7,8,9 fairly certain I would need all 3 them on 10 to compelte objectives). Even Cloaked I could not stick my head out as I would get staggered and shot. Hide behind wall and shoot(luckily I had the heavy scope with AP on my BW5)was the only option and even then I got staggered out once and killed. Medigel run and repeat. Cloak was absolutey no help

If you're too close to the enemy they'll 'feel' you. If you cloaked and then stayed stationary, they know you're there. And bombers have never been able to see through my cloak.

I've got 99 problems and tactical cloak ain't one.

Cloak is a damage boost, that's all.
