If this isn't in the right forum..thingy, do tell.

I just got Dragon Age 2 for christmas and am stumped for who to romance.
I have recruited Merril, she seems kinda cute, met Isabella and Fenris. Oh, and have recuited Anders. Miss the old Anders.

I am playing a female mage, and normally romance chicks..B)

Who's the best to romance?

This really is just personal preference, but my favorite female LI is Isabella. I normally romance Fenris (with both female and male), but Issy is a surprisingly sweet romance to engage. I have yet to complete a romance with Merril (though I did finally create a Hawke for her.....he's a bit derpy). Merril has too much of that "little sister" vibe for me, so I find her difficult to romance. I really enjoy her character, just don't see her as an LI. If Aveline had been romanceable, she would have totally been my cup of tea.

Still, just personal preferences. ;)

I really liked the Fenris one best. Though in the end I chose Merrill for my canon since I liked her character more than Fenris. But Fenris' romance was better than Merrill's in my opinion.

Honestly, the only way to see which one is "best" is to try them all and see which one/who you like best. Plus you have some differences depending on if its a friendship or rivalmance.

For my female mage and warrior, my favorite LI was Fenris. His intensity was different from the other LIs. Had Anders not changed, I would have gone with him but he wasn't the same as I remember. Isabella was too loose. Merrill too girlish.

I did like Aveline. If she was romanceable, I would have created a male Hawke to see her as an LI.

So that's what friendship/rival is for...

That whole system is dopey though, if i murder a mage in cold blood, I shouldn't get +100000000 Rivalry with Anders...

I always play as Lady Hawke, so i find Isabela the best Li for her as the two of them compliment each other perfectly and i find it the most rewarding one in the game, The two VAs do a good job and the dialogue between the two women is believable and by the end of the game i cared about the two of them.In second place comes Merrill and as for Anders and Fenris, these two are marmite figures in the game. You will like them or hate them its all a matter of personal preference.

I guess it depends on your preferences.

Fenris' romance is a bit tumultous; he has a lot of emotional baggage and the relationship goes through a rollercoaster ride before he settles for you.

Isabela's romance is physical right up until to the point where she realizes she's falling in love with you, and you basically have to convince Isabela to let go of her reluctance to do so.

Merrill's romance is, in a word, "sweet." She's hesitant about starting a relationship with you, due to reasons related to her personal quest and her Dalish background, but those obstacles are quickly overcome and you're lovey-dovey from there on out. I think it's the closest thing to a "normal" love in the entire game.

I actually didnt care for the romances in DA2, with the exception of Isabella. Found her more interesting than the others. Just my personal opinion.

The 'best' romance is entirely subjective. I can only say the one i enjoyed the most was Isabela (friended). It shows remarkable depth in the writing and takes the player deeper into her psyche than just 'over sexed pirate queen'. And she's my 3rd favorite companion in the game.

And if Varric or Aveline had been romanceable, those would have been my choices.

Actually, my female mage romanced Fenris, mainly because it was fun to break his fragile mage-hating brain. Though really, Fenris or Isabela are probably the most fun. Merrill is okay (particularly if you're a Torchwood fan, haha!) and Anders is just... ugh, no thanks.
