First off, I just want to point out that I am a Gold and Platinum player for all the trolls that will surely pop in thinking that I am whining before even reading the post. This is an attempt to help with the mountain of characters, gears, equipment, weapons, and mods that players who are new or just don't have tons of free time or money to blow. I also realize that Bioware would likely not want to do such a thing since they probably feel it would take away from people buying packs, but at such a late stage in the games lifespan it would be better to win the loyalty of new consumers rather than have them see how much there is to unlock and be driven away when they aren't making many credits and not getting unlocks they want with those credits.

That said, I think a fairly big increase in credits is due for Bronze and Silver players. Starter weapons are a joke without mods on them, especially at lower levels and most uncommon weapons aren't exactly impressive either. This came to my attention a little while back when I started playing on a friend's account to earn him some credits and I ran some Bronze and Silver matches to start out. Now he has been a bit lucky with a few unlocks since he has managed a Harrier, a PPR, and a Drell Adept before even hitting N7 120, but he also spent Microsoft Points on a bunch of packs trying to play catch up in order to feel even slightly comfortable in Gold playing with me and some of my friends.

On Bronze you get around I believe 15,000 credits (before extraction bonus, assuming objectives done as quickly as possible). On Silver you get I believe 30,000 credits (same scenario as above) if I remember correctly. Now what does this earn these players? 3 Recruit Packs from a Bronze game; 1 Veteran Pack and 2 Recruit Packs on Silver. How does this prepare players in any way for Gold? With all the complaints about the troll store with basically no chance of a change and players going into games above their ability causing tons of complaints (and rightfully so in many cases) of bad public game experiences a decent boost to Bronze and Silver credits could help this issue a great deal.

My proposal:

-Increase maximum credits earned in Bronze to 35,000 credits
-Increase maximum credits earned in Silver to 60,000 credits

Before all Gold players blow me up over this, try to remember when you were new to the game. The game was a fair amount easier at the time (no Collectors, no Hazard maps, no Dragoons which are a pain when grouped with Phantoms, no Geth Bombers). The game should also be about fun and if the increase in credits would allow players to stick to difficulties they can actually be of use in this hurts no one. Any Gold player should be in there wanting to challenge themselves while earning a fair amount of credits (maybe bump Gold up to 93,000 so you could get a Jumbo Equipment Pack and a Spectre Pack).

The increase would allow for Bronze players to get either A) 1 Jumbo Equipment Pack (helps with the move up to Silver) or B) 1 Veteran Pack and 3 Recruit Packs. Silver Player would be able to get either A) 1 Spectre Pack , B) 3 Veteran Packs, or C) 1 Jumbo Equipment Pack, 1 Veteran Pack, 1 Recruit Pack (yes, I know there are more options, not going to list them all). This would help Silver players prepare better for Gold since they could get equipment (play some pick up Gold games, at least on Xbox over half the players I have come across since the last DLC would not use any) and a level up Uncommon and/or Rare weapons a bit easier.

Thoughts?

tl;dr: Bronze and Silver players deserve a bit better incentives to stay in that difficulty.

L2P scrub.

In all seriousness, I agree with this. The added benefit would be that Bronze/Silver gamers probably wouldn't play Gold just for the creds. Resulting in better PUGs.

There's just so much stuff in a manifest these days that even Gold credits feel lackluster. Bronze and Silver payouts are both complete jokes.

I'll second this proposal. It's never going to happen though, since it strikes at the heart of the MP economy.

I don't really think that is something they want to incentivise to be fair.

I have to disagree. Bronze is only meant for those with little to no experience and silver is meant for those who have gained adequate skills. It would not make sense to be able to buy a specter pack after each silver map. And many people would not find playing gold worth it if the reward to too close to slier. Besides, that is why the reserve and arsenal packs were released, which were to make it easer for players to gain a specific item category.

FYI: Bioware wants to make micro transaction sales as profitable as possible, and probably feels as if making credit production easier will hurt their transaction sales.

I agree with this. Part of the problem is the sheer number of Gold character and weapon cards players have to unlock. I feel sorry for new players who have to go through all the piles of CC and weapons. I would downgrade at least several of the guns to uncommon (like the GPR and Striker Assault Rifle).

From what I have seen (buying them on my friend's account) the new packs were basically not much different than buying a Premium Spectre Pack.

Also, if you aren't playing Gold for the fun of the difficulty you shouldn't be playing it simple as that. I know I didn't play Gold until I was bored of Silver since I wasn't comfortable in there and I wouldn't move back down a difficulty (aside from Platinum since it is just boss spam).

Thanks. And a valid point. But, I've been playing from the beginning, literally, and I've been a bronze/silver player almost the whole time (a few successful Gold extractions).

We don't need this. We're ok. New players might feel differently (especially since they have to deal with Controllers, which I didn't).

There are issues with the game, but this one isn't the way to solve them. Easing new players in would be better served by fixing some of the (now admitted) errors in Collector design, and fixing a few bugs with the store/lobby.

Otherwise, bronze is an excellent way to figure yourself out.

And the beauty of Promo Weekends, is that you only need to unlock the Valiant and Hurricane once each to be able to test any kit on bronze.

But again, thank you. It's nice to be thought of instead of crapped on by the gold/platinum crowd.

I do not support this idea, if you want more credits, play higher difficulties.

Its not a matter of bronze not rewarding enough, the fact is unlocks do not make you good enough to play gold, and showering bronze and silver players in credits does nothing to improve their game.

I made the jump to gold when I had a carnifex I, a graal III and widow II; I managed fine with what unlocks I had gotten from playing silver. Credits are already higher per match than they were since extraction bonusses...

Credit gain is not tied to how "difficult" it is to get unlocks, credit gain is tied to how difficult the level is.

So silver, being far easier than gold should not award 3/4 of the credits that gold does, as its not remotely close to being as difficult; game runs at a slower pace, enemy wave budgets and wave compositions are baby mode compared to some gold level ones, enemies are less aggressive, less accurate, deal less damage...

TL;DR: Want more credits? Play with the big boys in gold. Can't play with the big boys in gold? Stick to silver.

Apparently I should, at least I wouldn't be a part of all the elitist jerks.

I support this. I'm sick of scrubs joining gold matches, struggling to score 20,000 points and expecting you to do all the work. The difference in credits between gold and silver is the only reason for this.

Make it so the only incentive to play gold is to enjoy a higher difficulty.

Oh, c'mon...

"I'm sick of getting sniped from across the map by enemies with perfect accuracy and vision that I can't even see with hunter mode on. "

You're half the reason we want to play on gold, cause you can help us deal with the bull****.

I think a credit increase for the lower difficulties is not a bad idea at all.

And for those saying that people should play higher difficulties if they want more, that's true but beside the point. The equipment a player has available to them is just as important as their skill. There are players who are too good for Silver and can handle Gold but aren't quite good enough to carry 2-3 people in a Gold/Platinum match (which judging by how people on here bash PUGs, is usually the case).

I don't need the credits. I am sitting on 17.2 million credits at the moment with nothing to spend it on. Doesn't change the issue that new players have a ton more unlocks now than we did when we started playing and have more difficult enemies to face with crap for weapons, mods, and gears.

@Annomander: Weren't you going to rage quit the game anyways because of Infiltrators? Why do you care so much? Will them making more credits hurt your little enjoyment?

I believe the money achieved from Bronze & Silver matches is sufficient reward for the difficulty involved.

BTW I am predominantly a Silver player
