I don't care if they bring it back or not really. It's merely cosmetic unless being a an Elf or Dwarf or whatever has a major affect on the game like different dialog or something then that would be cool. But if it barely affects the story then I couldn't care less if it was left out. I was disappointed on new games of DA Origins when I discovered that creating different races had little impact on the main game and the dialog doesn't change any.

This is stupid, I want to be an elf. I hate playing as a human, I mean I want to get away from the normal world into a fantasy place. Plus, being a human is boring.
I really hope they change it..even if its just a hollow hope. I really want to play an elf. :C

I've never really understood the argument that playing a human in a fantasy setting is somehow less fantasy than playing a different race.

Don't get me wrong... If they added playable races, I'd be quite happy, especially/only if they had proper voice acting(ie: Welsh/Irish elves, American dwarves).

But the idea that being a wizard, fighting dragons, and rescuing princesses as a human is somehow less escapist than doing it as elf just doesn't factor into my thinking.

To each their own, right?

Which is unfortunate, in my opinion. I think a Dalish elf traveling across the expanse of Thedas would have been amazing, especially going to (Orlais occupied) Dales and Tevinter.

I don't see it so much as less escapist or fantasy, so much as...boring. It just gets old after a while, to always play the same race. Especially coming from a game that gave you options. I think if DA:O had been human only, it would be more 'okay.' Taking away features always leaves a hole in many hearts.

I have nothing agaisnt the option to play as a human in a fantasy game, after all one of my favorites character/story in DAO was the human noble, of course knowing that is a fantasy game and an RPG why play as human at all when you could lose yourself playing as dashing elf? or a dwarf?

I like options and Bioware has eliminated them for the second time from Dragon age.

I think its all about zots...or lack of. They are not given the resources to do another DAO all options type game. Or maybe they just don't want too anymore?

DA2 was a more *personal* story so it may have made more sense to just go human. Although the hand-waving could have been done for any race just the same as mage hawke if they really wanted too. imho

I just read it...well, maybe is my poor english, but I don't see anything really bad about the chance of playable races...and I have read far worse about the racicled places, than about the people demanding playable races (most, me incluse, people who ask for the mext game) usually are the people who don't care or like only the Human protagonist, thar are more aggressive...but It can just be me understand wrong...

I didn't came back in the BSN form some time, so I can have lost something...

Oh please! you don't have to tell me how the devs saw DA2, i know that!! they called it an Experiment!.. and now they have announced another human  as main protagonist what should they call DA3?  Art?

Actually I think City Elves are still have American accents so surely it'd be better to just go with elf or dwarf PC and leave human lovers to cry in a pool of their own tears.

If  Elf-son of Elf Tevinter  Magister, or grew up in a circle of mages, or grew up in the house of a  oresian/ferelden/tevinter/nevarra noble...or grew up in a common human family ...then he(or she) should  not have any accents

If no one ever re-opens the topic of multiple races again, people will only send the message that it's okay to have them removed. It's not the people willing to pay for Bioware's games that have to compromise in this case.

Didn't you say you only cared about games *you* like? But you're criticizing people for exactly the same thing?

I'm doing no such thing. I have no problem with people making suggestions, even suggestions I disagree with. My issue is entirely with his phrasing.

I was suggesting, somewhat obliquely, that one catches more flies with honey than with vinegar. Telling someone to "pull their head out of their nethers" is not going to make them receptive to any past, concurrent or future requests.

I know some find me obnoxious because I would like multiples races to come back to DA, to them i say: well at least I am not a Hypocrite who Vouch  to play as Human in every game including Dragon age and then ask to play as a turian, qurian or Borg in mass effect4.:innocent:
