However, the graphics are a valid point of criticism. Does it deduct from the game's experience? Yes. Will it affect lasting appeal? Nope. People are gonna love this game regardless of some bad pixels.
If you want a crazy example of just how bad the graphics can get, do the dwarf noble origin. Look at the crowd in the proving grounds. I mean... seriously? They don't even look like dwarves.

1920x1200 with everything at max = Teh Winz!
And high-res texture packs can be done as DLC or as fan made addons.
If you want Crysis graphics, go back to your FPS'es. This is an RPG, and an incredibly good one at that. I'm completely in love with it. Graphic 1337'ness or not!
Kudos to you Dark_Dragon

P.S.: If you played the mage first, the reason for a "bad" graphic could be the "fade". Means: you are in a dream world and everything is supposed to look blurry!

AND as paying customers we have a right to voice any opinion of the game.
The graphics DO look bad. I had a friend tonight on Xbox Live who is the first to say a game's story and gameplay should always supercede the graphics tell me that the graphics "looked fuggly as hell". This was the first thing he said when I asked him how he was enjoying the game so far. I told him to hang in there for the story but I haven't read a review of the game not mention how drab the graphics are. People do notice graphics because they are a part of how a game envelops you. They could have (and should have) done better with the graphics.

I don't get it. I'm picky about graphics myself, but this game does not look bad to me...at all. I swear, it's like people saw the sacred ashes trailer and expected it to look like that.
Probably like me you've been gaming a while, so what we consider good and what a child of the Xbox360 generation consider good is probably not the same. From Video's and screen shots I've seen so far the graphics are good enough.

I don't really care if the graphics are average I never expected cutting edge graphics from this game.
Any console game is far from cutting edge graphics and yet there are several (and older) console games that look better (while still having an enjoyable story).

It really is a sad thing that people can't look beyond that.

But above all, to me the biggest immersion killer is the over ample use of blood splatter. One moment my woman is covered in blood splatter and the next moment she's clean as a whistle, which it might actually be appropriate that if I stuck my sword in somebody chest Im going to get some blood splatter, it's not going to be anywhere near as much as the game seems to want to portray it. Some blood splatter is great, it really draws you in. But when they overdo it, it simply makes the player want to laugh at how cheesy it all looks. The game will certainly appeal to those that love gratuitous overuse of violence and blood. Plenty of head cutting off, blood spurting, and even more blood leakage from dead bodies on the ground that quickly disappear so get it while you can before the body disappears along with the stained sidewalks.
The other graphics killer is the way that the environment does not react to the character walking thorugh it. The bushes and weeds on the ground don't bother to deform when the toon walks through it, perhaps it does in some areas, since I've not completed the game I can't be 100% certain, however the areas I've walked through the weeds stand tall and true and don't deform even in a breeze. It's all very static.

If fugly texture are people's concern. I'm sure there will be hi res texture mod coming around the corner, just like modders did with Mount&Blade.
