Do you think that Mass Effect 3 is better than Farcry 3? (Gamespot award finals!)

ME3 has powers.
ME3 is epic sci-fi space opera.
ME3 is a game I played (Farcry 3 is not; nor any other Farcry for that matter).
ME3 has Tali and in the MP, assorted other jiggly quarian bumbums.
Seems like a simple choice to me.

I... haven't played Far Cry 3, but even if it has a brilliant storyline and multiplayer, I do know that matching up to ME3 in both those regards is a very tall order indeed. The former even worse than the latter, because adding a well-balanced and fun PvP mode in wins a lot of points with me.
If you think ME3 had a brilliant story then it sounds like you'll think the Far Cry 3 is an outright masterpiece.

I have never seen such a horrible broken pos game.
Infact me, and quite a few others are still (after 4 patches) unable to even start the game. There are common system freezes on: core2duo, core2quad, i3, i5, i7 and assorted amd processors, gtx 2xx, 4xx, 5xx and assorted amd gpu's, windows xp, 7 and 8, xbox360 and ps3.
Personally I think it's stuff they never fixed from farcry 2... So thats 4 years back of not fixing your unstable engine and leaves little hope for me and others to get it fixed.
PS: Before anyone says: "I run it fine it must be your pc." Don't display your ignorance and stupidity with a post like that (since it is not just my pc).
PPS: Yes I've had games crash and require a driver update or a little workaround to work eg. older games. I've never had games flat out refuse to work properly no matter what I did. Unless offcourse it was on wholly unsupported hardware. Here we're talking about hardware that fullfill requirements that doesn't work and no explanation is given, no fix supported and no way of even avoiding the issue.

But I'll bet anything you think Skyrim was flawless and deserving of all it's nominations.

What did Mass Effect 3 do? Cut down on stuff from previous games and leave us with the worst. Ending. Ever.
Sorry, but I can't see how ME3 can possibly win this one.

I have never played Skyrim.
Personally I found that me3's ending was such a drawback that it shouldn't win goty either... but the other qualities could bring it to a top place imho. FC3's technical problems (quality) should disqualify it from even being considered.
Very few games are nigh flawless ( If any... I cant remember anyone) but there should be more to it than "graffix" and one liners... imho...

Hotline Miami, Vessel, Legend of Grimrock, or even Torchlight II would have made a much better choice, since those truly are PC games.
Still, despite the PC snafu (which I'd almost call a hipster choice), it's not bad. And I'm glad to see that Mass Effect 3 did well.

ME3 had very similar issues when it first came out. You seem to be experiencing selective memory loss.

For every one person who has a problem, a few thousand people (myself included) have no issues whatsoever with running the game... so while it isn't just your pc, it is an extremely small minority of players who have issues.

What you don't seem to understand is that while it doesn't work for you, it does work for a lot of other people who run with very similar if not identical hardware setups as you. It is entirely possible they haven't offered an explanation because thery do not know why it doesn't work for you but does work for Bobojoe McGurk.
I know it's hard to believe, but developers do want people to be able to play their game, they aren't ignoring people with the problem you seem to be experiencing.

Well obviously I have a subjective memory. For one I did not have any problems getting me3 to run. I might have had some initial performance problems that required driver updates.
No we are allways guessing that most people have little to no issue with a game. There are no wide surveys or independent technical testing available. And certainly nothing to indicate whether the relative technical quality of fc3 is better or worse than other games/developers.
There is atleast a difference between small graphical glitches, performance issues, issues which can be fixed by driver updates or windows updates and literally product breaking bugs.
I am not doubting that ubisoft wants me to be able to play their game. I am doubting their technical competency.
I don't buy that many games but out of... maybe 30-40 games since windows xp I have not had any game give me as much problems as FC3. With the exeption of FC2. Since windows 98 it has been very very rare for me to have any games lock up my computer til the extent of requiring a hard reset and thus risk for drive corruption.
Now granted me and others might just be equally unlucky (since it's different hardware and os) but I still wouldn't recommend anyone I know to buy the game at full price.
Most of the people I heard about exceeded minimum and/or recommended requirements. Yet for some unknown reason the game doesn't work even with alot of tinkering and attempts to fix it.
So a buyer have x amount of chance of the game flat out refusing to work, even though his computer passes the requirements and no way of knowing what the chances are.
And in such a case I wish I had bought it on a sale and knew I was taking a chance.

I should mention that i used a work around to get it working and play way before BW fixed it, however technically i did break XBLs terms of service doing it, even though all i did was delete corrupted files. Interestingly, given the side effects of Biowares fix, it seems that they had to resort to doing exactly the same thing to fix it, but i assume they also managed to find a way to stop the files being corrupted again as i've not had the problem since (touch wood). Still, everytime the game freezes and i have to restart my xbox, i fully expect to be stuck at the loading screen again - it just happened too many times for me not to be worried.
So, going by your reasoning, i have to question Bioware's technical competence. Given that i know of at least several hundred people who all experienced the same game breaking bug as me, i'd say i have a decent argument for doing this.
Or we could both say that it's anecdotal evidence. Glitches happen and unless they happen to a large amount of players there is no reason to question a companies technical competence over them. You and the people you know who have had it happen are not a large amount of players. Me and the several hundred people i know who had it happen are not a large amount of players, compared to the ME3 population overall. These kind of things are unfortunately, unavoidable. We were unlucky.
That said, given your personal experience i can totally understand why you wouldn't vote for Farcry 3. But at least it's only been unplayable for you so far for what, less than a month? (dunno what the release date was). Pray that Ubisoft are quicker than Bioware in making their game actually effin work.

Well i had a similar issue with ME3. As in the game wouldn't work, at all. Froze on the loading screen. On xbox - no problems with drivers etc causing it. It took Bioware six months to fix it. It didn't just affect me, there's a group on here dedicated to helping people who had the problem, so of the xbox players who are on these forums, several hundred had the problem. I have no idea how much of the xbox ME3 population are on these forums, but given the general competence and idiocy of PUG players, i'd say only a small percentage are on here. Probably less than half, so doubling the number of players i know of who had the issue is probably a conservative estimate. Remember that this glitch broke the game - literally made it unplayable for those experiencing it for both SP & MP, so six months of not being able to play a game you bought.

I have totally missed that
It's not that I expect software to be perfect but all software sure isn't equally good/bad and I think we, as consumers can expect some quality at least.
Farcry 3 only worked for me briefly and not problem free and reinstalling made me unable to even start the game. Since start of september something. Farcry2 have been having similar problems on my computer (can only start with processor affinity set to 1 core only and thus low performance) through 4 years now.
Nevertheless... this is all off topic apart from ... technical quality control in respect to goty awards.
One thing that mass effect 3 did immensely well compaired to many other games was the emotional connection to eg. squadmates. That is a rare thing that should be commended. Very few fps's have achieved that for me. Though obviously I haven't played fc3 so I don't know how well they managed that aspect of a gaming experience.

Yeah I have that same issue with both Bioshock games. I can get to the main menu on BS 1, and then it'll crash, but for BS 2 it'll make it to the credits and it'll just hang. Also I won't ever buy a Ubisoft game on PC on principle. Uplay can rot in hell.

I vote that EA makes Origin's slogan be "At least we aren't Uplay".
Uplay's can be "At least we aren't Games for Windows Live".
Nothing is lower than GFWL though. Nothing.
