lol well, this is true it could be traced way back to yesteryears, and i have no clue about RF guerrilla, i couldnt get past the first red faction game cause i thought it sucked horribly, so i never got into any of the followups... you know...first impressions and all that  stuff.

also ERMAGHERD you talkin about something that isnt ME3.... how dare you people have a conversation..... especially one that was created from talking about ME3 and another game being compared.....GHASP!

Guerrilla was the only one that wasn't linear, being an open world game where basically every building is destroyable. They also have a good number of actually unique weapons designed for destruction of buildings.

I think you missed the point. I didn't say it was hilarious because it's not about ME3.

I said it's hilarious because ME3 MP is a standard issue Gears of War horde mode with a bit of ME paint on it.

Even the cover based shooting which is core to both those game's gameplay, can be traced back to Operation Winback on the PS2.

Red Faction: Guerrilla was an amazing game.

FC3 and JC2 have nothing in common outside of setting (jungle) and theme (dude shooting other dudes). But if you really want to get into it, Far Cry 1 came out in 2004 and was set in a jungle and had you shooting dudes, while JC2 came out in 2009, so. . . .

ME3 singleplayer was a massive disappointment, especially when compared to the other two in the series.

So much this. I cannot fathom ME3 winning any awards, because the best part of the game (MP) is not a part of SP, and is really a seperate game. If ME3MP were up for awards on its own.... I still could never in good conscience vote for it. So many issues in the execution of this fun but flawed game.

ME3MP is a nice Beta, which the devs are taking to serious in many ways. Also that EA tried to create a monetization for that was Bassackwards. If the Dev team has stopped ME3Mp production and gone right into a rebuilt Mass Effect: Mercenary with more game modes, character customization, etc. and stared it a price of 39.99 (plus cosmetic armor microtransition packs) they'd possibly be looking at GotY 2014.

The one thing Mass Effect has done better then virtually any other game on the market is a wide mix "powers" combined with gun play. I really can't think of title that did this to this level (Boarderlands has exactly 1 power) since the Jedi Knight games and their Force Powers. And that was back just a smidge before networked game play really took off.

Everything else.... Not so much.

My favorite game this year is FF13-2.
If you disagree, I don't care.

i love when people think small tweaks to a game make them vastly different, they both are the same base gameplay wise, explore a area, conquer enemy bases to gain control of an area, so farcry uses the tatoo for powers, its still the same base game no matter how you wanna try and justify it

and fyi i would vote JC2 a better game than far cry any day of the week, the grappling hook & parachute combo was wicked fun and since it was made waaay b4 farcry, and farcry has the tendency to fall 2 feet and your character dies.... lol both have wonky physics

Using that base gameplay I could call JC2 a ripoff of something else. Then somebody could call my game a ripoff of something else, and so on until we go all the way back to whoever came up with the idea of an open world game, which was probably GTA.

I would vote Red Faction Guerrilla a better game than Far Cry 3 or Just Cause 2 any day of the week, and that game had both open world exploration and conquering areas of the map by assaulting bases(and doing missions) before either of those games came out. It also had jetpacks and a gun that melted walls.

Also this is all pretty hilarious when it's in the ME3 MP forums.

Not that I don't love BioWare's version of it =P

Wing Commander:Privateer beats GTA by 4 years.
