1) The single bad VA in a game filled with some of the best VA I've ever heard in a game.

2) Using a bland character nobody liked when there were TWO reporters with actual personalities that players already had a connection with that could've easily filled the role.

3) IGN.

It would actually be a fun little twist if Khalisah al-Jilani joined the Normandy. She got nice character development in this game. (She even tries to fight back!)

Here's a suimmery of all the reasons I personally despise Allers:
- Got a full-on expensive model when Bioware couldn't be assed to even give Tali a face
- She takes the place of a previously existing and perfectly functional character (Emily wong) who they killed off in a tweet to make room
- She serves virtually no actual purpose in game
- She's an IGN reporter girl who I don't care about
- her very presence indicates just what a cozy relationship Bioware/EA have with the gaming press and ergo: why there was so much flack dropped from on high in the gaming press on fans with brains who pointed out how cheap the endings were
- She contributes to the overall Jersey shoring of more than half of the female characters

So they could pull in the "hardcore" gamers from IGN's awful audience. And for a better review, that mentioned pretty much nothing negative about the game at all.

Khalisah or Emily would've both been great. Even better if you could choose between them. There was absolutely NO REASON to bring in a new character, especially one SO BORING, and give her the spotlight.

People complain about EA all the time here, I don't put much faith in most of the things they say, I don't believe EA is responsible for every bad thing in the games, but Allers just STINKS of a backroom deal EA made with IGN. And if it wasn't for the whole ending debacle, Allers would have gotten a LOT more well-deserved hate.

First, I would much rather have Emily Wong or even Khalisah if I really needed reporter onboard the ship. Second, giving her Zaeeds old room is waste of space which could have been used for other squad mate. Third, she should change her clothing, her face wasn't very well done nor was her voice acting.

Why would they? They got the better of her, both of them, respectively paragon and renegade. Hitting reporters is bad publicity. Ask any celebrity.

All this, esp bolded section.  Her being in the game is all the confirmation I need for the integrity vaccum that this game was created in.  There is plenty of evidence, but she's the smoking gun.

Her voice acting became, Well, mediocre... During the final conversation with her. Something about "was a colony kid, my home was destroyed because they made binoculars". She actually emoted a teensy tiny bit during that conversation.

That might just be the nicest thing I've ever said about her character right there. Which is pathetic when you think about it. When the best thing I can say is "her acting got barely passable in the last dialogue from her in the entire game", that doesn't bode well. Damned by faint praise?

Never has a more pointless game character stalked the earth. It just takes up space that someone more interesting could be occupying. After the first time i picked her up i learned my lesson the hard way and found out this woman is no Kate Adie.
Either one of the other two reporters would have being welcomed on the Normandy with open arms. The embedded reporter was a good idea, Just a pity that character is some woman who i have never heard of before and couldn't care less about if i tried.
I would have being happy to have had Zaeed back as a squad mate and an additional and much needed Li for Fem Shepard. If the Reapers had to justify the Harvest, all they would have to do is show you a picture of Diana Allers.
