One thing makes me curious, if a modder fixed up the character model's face to look more fitting and had another more decent female voice actor record the lines, would you guys still hate the character even in her modded form?

I often think that the perfect solution for her is to have someone tune up the model and to get a new woman in to redo her lines. We'll never get Khalisa Al-Jilani (my preference) or Emily Wong, but a modder could theoretically fix Diana enough to be acceptable.

There is only so much a modder can do. Yes they can make her look better, and yes they may be able to redub some of her dialog. But at the end of the day Bioware didn't give her character enough to do to justify her being onboard.. Allers is just  wasted potential.

True there is only so much a modder can do, although ME3Explorer is pushing the boundaries ever further. It doesn't answer my question though, as being wasted potential isn't a reason to hate her. The hate usually stems from replacing Emily Wong, from her character model and her voice acting. Would she still be hated with a new character model and voice acting from an actress who can pull off emotions?

I take issue with Bioware making her a priority budget over cut dialogue and scenes with characters that matter, Jack or Ashley for example, especially concerning growth for their freaking arc.

Oh Bioware, how I dislike thee reasons.

So they'd effectively replace her with another character saying the same things?

As long as the new actress wasn't employed by a company that's supposed to criticize the end product I'd probably find it ok. Would stil prefer Emily Wong or Khalisah al-Jilani or someone writing new dialogue (as well as the model / VA change) for Diana Allers.

I quite agree with you. Talking to Allers was the first time I reacted badly to a voice in all of my BioWare games, it just did not fit at all.

Emily Wong and Khalisah al-Jilani feel like actual reporters in the game. Currently playing ME2, on the Citadel the little snippets with Emily on the screen outside the entrace sounds just like a reporter. Running into al-Jilani one stair up also felt like talking to a real reporter. Guess I took all those other talented VA's for granted. Since I do get any of my gaming-news from IGN I could not place Diana Allers at all when I ran into her in the game. She was simply a person in a party-dress looking more at place dancing on the nightclub than doing any kind of reports from a war front. She did not get onto my FemShep´s ship. Later on coming back to BSN I learned that this was some kind of publicity-stunt?

I hope that they will refrain from doing this again. Let talented people do the voice acting, they are usually so very good at this. ME3 is my favorite game in the series, but that does not mean that everything is perfect. Diana Allers is not one of my favorite parts in the game. Wish they had done more with either Wong or al-Jilani instead of this. Oh well, let's just hope it was a learning experience for them.

It's okay that Buzz isn't the best voice actor, because he's been to the Moon.  That's why he was cast.  

Chobot isn't noteworthy in any serious respect, and thus does not earn the pass Aldrin does.

Yes if you refuse to let her come onboard, or kick off your ship at some point. She gets posted on the dreadnought SSV Shasta, witch is lost with all hands at the Horse Head Nebula.

If let's say that Bioware hadn't used miss Chobot for the role and in doing avoided the whole IGN Bribe issue, but retained the exact same script, it'll still be a despised character because either Emily or Kalisha, especially Kalisha would have been the perfect choices.

In Kalisha's case it would be Shepard who using either the Paragon or Renegade interupt to convince / challenge her to come aboard the Normandy to see for herself what Shepard has been doing all this while and establish herself as a true reporter with this one time exclusive.

Potential wasted as then "after mission" reports could have been via Kalisha's eyes.

Instead, we got "Battletits".

On my...damn I don't know how many times I've played through ME3 now...many...times playthrough, I actually don't really mind her voice acting anymore. It makes her sound like a fake pundit that is doing nothing but spewing bull**** - which is what 99% of them do in reality anyways.

I dont hat her, but I don't like her either. I would much rather have my sweet reporter Emily Wong. I would even take Kalisa! Geez, they could have used the time making Tali and actual face, rather than waste time on a character that has little to no value. I did not like the voice acting either. To me it sounds too monotone, even at the emotional scenes. Probably should have worked with her more... or I am just being too picky? The only thing I did enjoy with her though, was her hair. I finally got to use the ideal hair I had for my shepard lol.

I find I don't mind her much. Her ambients and NPC convos give background info, and her convos with Shep give a few RP moments.

I don't really hate her or like her. I just don't get why Emily had to die for us to have her. Why couldn't she have been an option like Dr. Michél?

Diana Allers was a wasted opportunity.
Bioware could have used her to talk about Shepard's trial using questions from her viewers or even put in evidence a lot of moral questions about curing the genophage or the Quarian X Geth war.
But instead she simply asks two questions and then the screen fades to black.<_<

It's really hard not to think on her(Allers) as a bonus payment for the advertising IGN made for ME3.

No, it's not because of any one thing. It's just absolutely everything about that character is just so god damn ugly that it induces bad language, vomit and vitrol.

In fact, the only good thing that came from the character was ManSlayer's Mass Effect 3 GamerPoop.

I would also like to add...

- She has ugly cheeks
- Terrible, horrible, horrendous voice acting
- Mediocre script for the character to start with (on top of bad voice acting)
- Out-of-nowhere "romance" (call it "flirt" if you prefer, I just call it "We'll bang, ok?")
