So when I try to preorder Return to Ostagar (through the site) it prompts me to buy points.. but I have 1080 points. Am I doing something wrong?

If you are on the PC DLC contents can be obtained by using the points you bought in the game itself. In the main menu of the game, go to Downloadable Content. That is were you use your points to get the DLCs.
Return to Ostagar is not out yet anyways so it won't appear there. That DLC has been delayed.

"Preordering" Return to Ostagar is buying enough points to redeem it when it is released.
Its probably not sophisticated enough to realize you already have enough points.
