In all seriousness though, I've decided to share a small story with all of you. I'm not quite sure why, but maybe it will make some people think differently about these communities.
There are only a few games that I have a true passion for, even long after they have died. Mass effect being one of them (not saying its dead). One of the others is Alien Vs. Predator 2 by Monolith and Lithtec released back in 2001. Not the garbage that was released a couple years ago. Anyways, I met my wife playing that game. She was apart of another clan [XLR], and I was a Hive General (aliens) in Fusion clan [fu].
We had played together a few times when she visited our clans server. Eventually she joined our clan as a Predator and became a General over time as well. I had a girlfriend at the time which didnt work out, and went through a few others. Over the next 7 years we continued playing together even after the game died. Its actually still running to this day, which we ocasionally fire it up and play once in a while.
Anyways, we were friends who enjoyed playing the same type of games together, and that was it. In 2007, after I had had it with the girlfriend at the time, for some reason we began talking more seriously with each other. Now here is the kicker. I live in the United States on the east coast. She lived in The Netherlands. Thats Europe, in case you needed to know. Yeah, on the other side of the planet, europe.
After a while, we came to the discussion of where the relationship was going to go, obviously. Well at the time I was building an import race car for the circuit tracks. I was attempting to finish it before a huge car meet in Ocala, Florida. So I invited her over to the United States to come with me for this 4 day event in March, 2008. It would be her very first time coming to the USA and staying for a week. I wont bore you with the details of the trip, but that road trip with her was one of the best times of my life.
I had also invited her for a second trip back for the 4th of July. This time she stayed for two weeks, and I took her to see my family in New York, as well as for the fireworks. This was the second best time of my life. After we got back, we decided to make it a permanent thing. We filed the paperwork at the end of that week. Six months later, on Dec 8, 2008, she left her country and arrived here. On Dec 10, 2008, we got married.
We are still currently happily married, and she plays Me3 with me...... and wants to supercharge her car.....
I couldnt ask for more
