Since, I assumed most of you have played the trilogy already, I am curious of people's opinions of squadmates or crewmates which is the bread-and-butter of mass effect plot development and characterization. Pleaes indicate your most favorite squadmates and explain briefly why. Also if you are into it, mention about ur love interest and why did u pick him or her to be on your side till the very end.

My top 5 crewmates or squadmates

1. Javik (His sarcasm, trolling attitude and use of the word *primitive* while he is 50,000 years old is ironic, entertaining and extremely funny. I have my best interactions with him because he makes comments on everything throughout the entire game and he is the star on Thessia mission. Too bad he is a DLC character.)

2. Garrus (His popularity really starts in Mass Effect 2 because of his stylish jokes and his interactions with Femshep is just indescribably hilarious because of his research on human sex customs and all that. You know the rest of his *calibrations*)

3. Liara (First of all, she is a biotic god. Both in Mass Effect (do you remember that overpowered singularity?) and Mass Effect 3, her powers are aweseome. Plus she is innocent and care for the Commander Shepard deeply. This is why I chose her as my love interest. Plus that *Embrace Eternity* brain therapy is illumanating? ;))

4. Wrex (Who doesn't like this awesome Krogan? He is a troll like Javik yet not as exterme. I am glad they became friends in Mass Effect 3. The quality I find interesting in Wrex is that he cares about his people with his heart which seems rather rare in krogan race who would rather die killing for food and females than rebuilding the society.)

5. Legion (The introduction of a geth squadmate was a genius move made by Bioware in the history of the trilogy. The true history and culture of the geth species is a mystery since Mass Effect 1. We never knew what drives these robots into doings unpredicatble. When Legion explains to me about his synthetic race, I was surprised how ridiculously democratic the government system of consensus really is. Plus the geth are willing to develop on their own independently and they wish for existance makes my inner self smile. Plus "Geth do not intentionally infiltrate") :o

1. Garrus he is my favorite LI and character in the entire trilogy. He is always there for shep and is a bada** at times but a nice guy at others. He is one of the best (if not the best) character ever written in a video game or in a movie or book.

2. Liara it is interesting to see how she grows throughout the trilogy. She is also a very interesting character and a great LI.

3. Wrex cause how many characters can say Shepard and be cool.

4.tali she is a great LI and seeing her grow throughout the trilogy. It showed amazing how her character matures.

5. Ashley she was an amazing LI and you can change her mind to how the council and other aliens are just like us and then she trusts them more and isn't suspicious of them. Also she was a well written character all around.

Most of the mass effect characters are amazing and this was hard to choose from

1.Tali,She is an Admirals Daughter on her pilgrimage, and Shepard is one of the very few humans she has seen, but she is immediatly infatuated with him, but doesnt believe there could be anything becuase of her inability to be physically intimate with him without getting dangerously sick, but in ME2,After Ashely regects Shepard and pretty much calls him a disgrace to the Alliance. Shep takes a step back and thinks about who really cares about him,and there is Tali, who has always supported him, And they get close during her trial and her fathers death. Tali is a sweet girl who cares about everyone(except cerberus)

2.Miranda,starts off has TIM's right hand woman, a die hard Cerberus supporter, but the more she is around Shepard, the more she starts to realize that Cerberus and TIM are no different than her Father, and starts to become disillusioned with the orginization, and closer to Shepard. weather she is youre LI or not,she becomes a close friend. I love has a final insult to TIM, she is the one that hands me the mine to blow up the Collector Base with TIM begging her to stop me, "Consider This my Resignation" awesome line.

3.Ashley,you meet her on Eden Prime after she witnessed her entire company get slaughtered by the Geth, and right away she is impressed by Shepard,of course she knew she knew she was fighting with the savior of Elisyum, and has she gets closer to Shepard, her hardened veiw about life starts to change. If there is a Canon LI for Male Shep its Ashley, but she is wasted has a LI in ME3

4.Garrus, meets shepard after being disillusioned with the buerocrats in C-Sec, and doesn't mind working with a SPECTRE who doesnt go by any policies to catch criminals, then Garrus becomes a great ally, a brother in arms so to speak, someone who fight to the death with you and always has youre back

5.Samara,she and shepard started working together out of mutual respect, but eventually they become close friends,Samara is an awesome warrior and is probably the most powerful biotic in the game

Liara (LI)
She really completes Shepard. I absolutely love how her character actually developed overtime, she has some of the most memorable scenes in the series (LotSB, time capsule, her goodbye and romance scenes), a great romance arc...and Ali Hillis

Samara
I think she is very interesting as a character and as a view into the culture of the Asari. BW did a wonderful job of making her "regal" rather than beautiful and her mission in ME3 was one of my favorites. I also liked Morinth in ME2...but the named banshee wasn't a great conclusion to her story

Kasumi
I think her ME2 loyalty mission is the best in the game and her quirky/fun personality was quite refreshing

Mordin
He is the very model of a scientist salarian!

Jack
I didn't love her as much until I saw her character development from ME2 to ME3. Meeting her for a dance at Purgatory was great as well.

LI :
Miranda : for me the most interesting character of the Mass Effect series. I like her complex personality, her combat skills, her backstory, her competence, her looks, her VA ... The perfect match for my Shepard, and she's got a very touching romance. Disapointed that she's got sidelined in ME3 like many of my favorite characters.

1: Tali: By far my favorite character. It helps that I could play her loyalty mission over and over again just to hear all the different dialogue options and results. Needless to say, she is also my Shepard's LI. She just shows great character development throughout the trilogy, and there is seldom a mission where I leave her on the ship. I enjoyed watching her go from pilgrim to squad leader to admiral, and was overjoyed when I was able to return her to Rannoch in ME3. Definitely one of the most emotionally satisfying archs in the trilogy.

2: Liara: Back in ME1, my away team usually consisted of Soldier Shepard for the big guns, Tali the master of shotguns, supershields, and unlocking, and Liara, the original biotic god. My team hasn't changed much since then (except ME2, where Miranda became my #2), and all that time with them in ME1 allowed Liara to grow on me. Some see her as a writers pet, and I can see where they are coming from, but I like her on the team, and she has a good character arch through the series, evolving from a naive scientist to competent information broker.

3: Wrex: Shepard. Wrex. Need I say more?

4: Ashley: My preferred VS and original LI. She provides some much needed realism in the ME universe. Too many times characters in space opera are overly optimistic and annoyingly naive. Ashley was a nice foil to that, and the fact that she was openly religious in a genre that generally avoids such things only made me like her more for the breath of fresh air she offered.

5: Miranda: She was a nice addition to ME2, and I liked seeing Cerberus from her point of view. She made Cerberus seem almost noble, and thanks to her I didn't mind working for them. Her story arch was also very nice and more subtle, with her growing to trust you more and more. From wanting a control chip in you in the beginning, to the ultimate act of defiance against TIM if you destroy the Collector Base. This progression, and her moveset that melded nicely with my playstyle, earns Miranda spot #5

Honorable Mention: Garrus: He would be #6. I really like him, but these 5 I just like more. And no favorites list can be without Garrus.

1. Garrus, for the way he carries himself and his unbeatable sense of humor. He's a turian through and through - a capable rifleman, proud and honorable. I can easily call him Shepards best friend, when the fire is thick as well as in between missions for his playfully coy observations and ability to put a spin on a bad situation in a way that makes you grin. He came a long way since his C-sec days, a true brother in arms and otherwise.

2. Tali, who also happens to be my love interest. A capable and very adept engineer, with humble beginnings in the Migrant Fleet - she's well acquainted with hardship and the importance of working together. A quarian who stands out even in a society built on cooperation, camaraderie and sharing resources with an even greater sense of empathy; her innocence, lack of arrogance and apparent vulnerability is what's most attractive about her. Her selfless eagerness to help during her pilgrimage brought her into Shepards entourage and things just took off from there. Her continued support, admiration and understanding of Shepard well beyond his surface shield of invulnerable N7 marine bore fruit and evolved into an unbreakable bond - just like Shepard, she carries the weight of the world on her slender shoulders.

Garrus and Tali are my fire team. It's been like that from the beginning, right after debriefing after the Eden Prime shakedown run. For every mission their support and expertise has been invaluable, more so with the bonds of friendship and romance.

3. Liara is an empath, as most asari are. She joined Shepards crew at the early age of 106(no pun :P ) and has been an invaluable member of the team. Shy and flustered, she grew and evolved into a capable woman with significant biotic prowess and a trusted friend. Her tendency to see the best in people didn't suffer, despite appearances, even with all the trying events from the first hints of reaper invasion, thus becoming a trusted confidant.

4. Gunnery Sergeant, now Lt. Commander Ashley Williams - a career soldier with a chip on her shoulder, she proved herself time and again both in the field as well as a friend. Her courage and confidence as a marine and as a person serves as an inspiration to the team oriented Shepard. With the tendency to want to get to know his crew, Shepard easily found a friend in Ashley, and, despite differences in the past, their friendship flourished - a valuable asset on the best of days, let alone during a seemingly endless war.

5. Urdnot Wrex - a krogan among krogans, proud, headstrong with heavy baggage - he carries himself and his lot in life with strength and conviction. That right there earned Shepards respect from day one. With a sombre background, the character is everything but, boldly cracking jokes and reveling in the satire of his existence, under the weight of the genophage. Mutual respect between Shepard and him was to be expected, two hardened warriors, both with an innate nobility and sense of loyalty. Following the campaign against Saren, Wrex evolved into a calculated leader, with the interest of his people close to his four beating hearts.

There's the top five right there, it was hard to choose, as the entire crew from beginning to end is an assortment of extraordinary individuals of great morals and dedication. Hell, such a group in close proximity in real life would break out of the post industrial age slump by sheer ambition alone.

1. Zaeed, for being epic and telling stories;
2. Jessie, for she is featured in Zaeed's stories;
3. Wrex, for he is an epic krogan chief;
4. Grunt, for he is an epic krogan berserker;
5. The random guy who walks around the Normandy, for he is the only person showing some respect and saluting me (weapon check before entering to the war room ladies do not count).

1) Ash, my canon LI and favorite character in the whole trilogy. Her plot arc comes to a nice close, Brooks did a phenomenal job with her, and her final moments in ME3 were everything I had hoped to see. Sadly, I did not get to see my Shep find his way back to Ash or her ask about death; both scenes I feel very strongly that Bioware should have made happen.

2) Liara, my perfect compliment as a squadmate and is a close second in terms of LI. She was my Adept's LI. When I'm with her, there's biotic explosions everywhere. Also, you gotta love her for rescuing you from the Collectors hands and being the reason why you returned. She's a good friend and a memorable character. One can only hope she and Shep found each other and lost themselves in the stars together.

3) Garrus, my spacebro. I'm going to miss him in the upcoming game. When you had him in your crew, you knew he had your back. I'm glad he and Tali got together in the end, he deserved happiness.

4) Wrex: could never betray him, could never kill him, and could never not help him. His lines were so blunt and hilarious at times, yet he showed wisdom in others. During the final assault on Tuchanka, I teared up a bit during the Paragon interupt. While it saddened me to see him no longer part of my squad post-ME1, seeing him achieve his dreams and become the Krogan leader was a hallmark of the series.

5) Miranda is another who my Shep owes a lot to. She brought him back from the dead and proved a valuable asset. I wish she would have been a squadmate in ME3, as for some reason I really enjoyed seeing her character work through the "perfection" complex. Like the others, I was glad to see her finally freed from her father's fist and back together with her sister. She was my Soldier's LI and I still hope he finds her...

Garrus: LI, on account of being a dreamboat since ME2. His development as a character is an astounding achievement in the series.

I'd have to think about my top 5 for a bit.

Damn.. Only pick 5?? well, that's a tough one .. Image IPB

Here goes:

1. Kaidan : He's my one and only LI in the ME trilogy Image IPB.. (.. yeah. But please don't judge me Image IPB ) He's just the kind of guy I'd like to be with and with that perfect chemistry we had back in ME1, it's just really hard for me NOT to romance him. He loves Shepard to no end but isn't afraid to stand by his principles. The argument they had back on Mars pretty much goes on like a lover's spat. The way I see it, it's not that he's doubting Shepard, it's more like he's afraid of his strong feelings towards her might cloud his judgement, while he has to maintain professional and objective above all else especially during those times. After the air has been cleared between them though, he's really sweet Image IPB There's just so much that I like about that guy, but I'll just spare you all the misery and say that my favourite scene with him is his parragon interupt kiss in London. Thankfully I have MEHEM, with out it, that scene would pretty much be a gut punching experience each time I see that part.

2. Wrex : Maybe it's because he's really that awsome and my Shep plans to retire and free load with her Krogan brother in Tuchanka (maybe get her own Kakliosaur if she's lucky) Love how he greeted Shepard back in ME2, he looks so happy to see her.

3. Samara : That woman is my Shepard's credit card in ME2, never leave the Normandy without her. She's just so graceful, calm, serene but her biotic powers can pack a mean punch. Miss her much

4. Miranda : The heartless ice queen that's pretty much the perfect foil of my Shepard in ME2. I see both of them as two different sides of the same coin: She was a Cerberus loyalist and my Shepard a die-hard pro Alliance, both dedicated in their work. But in the end, funny enough, they managed to respect each other and eventually became friends Image IPB heck, my Shep really meant it when she tried her best to convinced her BFF to stop running and just stick around this time.

5. Ashley, Garrus, Tali, Mordin, Vega, EDI, Kasumi, Zaeed, Javik, Jack, Thane, Liara, Legion, Jacob, Grunt. am I allowed to write that? Image IPB what can I say, each have their moments and I like them all Image IPB

1. Miranda Lawson, also my LI. Best squadmate in the series with her abilities. Also her confidence, ruthlessness, determination, back story. Everything else is just gravy.

2. Urdnot Wrex. Shepard's Krogan brother in arms. They definitely see eye to eye and have each others backs.

3. Garrus, same reasons as Wrex

4. Javik. His knowledge, that he uses for trolling, his experience and skills are second only to Shepard, and he knocks down Liara in particular and the Asari as a whole, that's always nice.

5. Mordin Solus. Awesome character. Seemingly resolute and confident that the ends justify the means, but he comes to feel remorse for his mistake. Without him Shepard would never have cured the genophage. Also his voice is awesome.

Garrus: True Brother in Arms...Sheps best friend/Bromance....Wickedly awesome sense of humor....Always one of Sheps mission squaddies.

Kasumi: Funny and laid back....Brilliant squaddie....perfect synergy with Infiltrator Sniper Shep and Sniper Garrus.

Legion: Most facsinating Dialog in the series...and loved watching his Geth development in ME2....'No data available' I always wondered if that signified an intial beginnings of emotional development within the Geth.

James:
Love that he doesn't kowtow to Shep or faun all over him...love that he challenges Shep...Also brilliant mission squaddie.

Thane and Samara:
I couldn't choose between the two.....Both have interesting Dialogs and perceptions, would have loved further development with them....both have class and an outlook that I can't help but be intrigued by....Thane is also an excellent mission squaddie.

LI: No LI for my Shep....none of the choices appeal...Tali comes the closest, she's not as ruthless as the others and has a sweetness about her, but would much prefer human for Shep.

1)Wrex. Was the only squadmate I really liked to talk to in ME1. Great personality and knows how to joke. He deserved the "Best Sidekick of the Year" award like nobody else.
2)Javik. A rough person and militant person, knows how to make the hard decisions. That's what I respect.
3)Garrus. Not so impressive in ME1, but filled in the "cool spot" after Wrex was unavailable. And filled in well. My opinion.
4)Miranda. Main LI, beautiful and a nice character.
5)Mordin and Legion share the 5th place.

Garrus - my hands down favorite character and my canon LI. Great sense of humor. I like how their relationship went from mentor/student to best friend. I had to try his romance as he was my favorite and it broke my heart, I loved seeing this side of him.

Jack - I don't know why I like her. Between the attitude and the swearing I should hate her. But I don't. I found her funny and interesting, I thought that her character was developed well and there was more to her than just the attitude.Plus I love double spamming shockwaves with her,

Kasumi - Can understand being caught up on a past love. Plus she was funny as hell. She was just fun

Mordin - Probably one of the most interesting characters. At first I thought he was heartless and his feelings on the genophage modification were cold, especilly since I felt that updating it was wrong. But then I started to see another side of him during his loyalty mission. I loved in 3 how he was working for the cure for more than "because it was necessary now." Plus he was funny as hell.

Kaidan - I liked that he was not the typical male soldier. He was sensitive and had a romantic side. And his arc with Shep, even as just friends, was very well done.

1) Urdnot Wrex- Personally I believe the beauty of Wrex is his character. He can be the cold, unfeeling mercenary one moment, and then a caring individual who would go great lengths to save his people whom he had abandoned. Plus, his oh-so smoldering good looks.

2) Mordin Solus- When I first got introduced to Mordin, I just laughed. His speech, the camera angles, and the fact he was the first actual bad-ass Salarian I ever saw, left a vast impression on me. Once again, his character also drew me in, when behind the plate of a mad scientist, you could see how broken he was for his work on the genophage modification, despite his excuses. His final sacrifice in ME3 was tear-jerking to say the least.

3) Javik- I just really love Vanguards don't I? Aside from being the biggest troll in the Galaxy, Javik is the squadmate I like taking on missions the most. He brings such a great perspective to things, and provides some interesting exposition on certain subjects. Not to mention, I like how he's not sure if he likes the person he's become thanks to the Reaper War 50,000 years ago.

4) Garrus Vakarian- Garrus is the man. Despite pretty much failing in all three of his jobs, he is one of the most badass squadmates in the whole trilogy. I also like how you can shape his character development, just like EDI and James. His loyalty, skills, and personality is what makes him a great bro.

5) Tali'Zorah vas Normandy (LI)- Ah Tali. On a ship full of total jerks, you are a shining light. Her growth through the series, and seeing her changed opinions on synthetics as a whole through her encounters with EDI and Legion, is great, probably making her one of the most developed characters in the trilogy. As for why I picked her for my LI, mainly it was because of humility, kindness, and generosity. I found her to be a great pair with my canon Shepard.
