I've noticed some people mentioning Shepard's "prothean DNA" from the cipher in ME1 (yeah, I know).  That's probably what they're going on about.

oh. but he didn't 'get' new dna he had the cipher 'downloaded' into his brain. although i like the idea of shepard just picking up dna as he's goin around.

cop a feel of matriach benezia? bang dna!
punch out a hysterical salarian? ka-pow dna!
 
could almost give some precedent to synthesis............nah

It was pretty cold in London. After Harbinger seared Shep like a well done steak he promptly caught a cold after. And pneumonia. Poor guy was coughing fat green phlegms all over Starjar's color coded platform and coughed a few down Synthesis alley as well.

 It does make me wonder though. Bioware must know that the overlap between ME fans and ST fans is pretty large. Lots of people were going to associate Synthesis Green with the Borg. It wouldn't be my first colour choice if I was trying to present Synthesis as "the best ending".
