I can only get her to say I'm here for you then I can tell her how great it is to be with her, her approval is at 100% but it doesn't go any further than that. Never had this problem playing a male character. It seems to not want to trigger the next conversation and it's been like this for hours now

It is a known glitch that happens when you raise her approval too quickly (i.e. get her approval high without triggering the Marjolaine quest). It should help if you lower her approval so you can get the "I've heard that bards are spies" convo.

I've never needed to use it though so I can't comment on it. Alternatively you can try fiddling with her approval via conversation or console (obviously make separate saves so you can reload if you screw it up).
