Hello all,
I haven't posted in a while and that's a shame, but never mind that, I'm wasting time.
I am hoping there is a way to find out the attributes (those that determine my character's appearance that is) in a Mass Effect 1 save (360).  Long story short, my account got hacked, I lost files, blah blah... I have the ME Trilogy on order for the PS3, and I really want to remake, exactly, my Femshep from ME1 back in the day.  This has always been 'my' Shepard, and I regretfully was not able to play her in ME3 (until now!  hopefully...)

Does anyone know how I can go about finding out these stats?  I attempted to start a new career with the old save after beating the game again (I had to in order to select it at all) and the option to 'create' the character doesn't seem to pop up.  This isn't surprising, but I couldn't remember after all this time if it would or not.  So I then searched around the menus in the hopes of finding what I need, but was unable.  Am I screwed on this and will simply have to guess it as close as my human eye can get?

I don't remember exactly how it works, but if you have a finished ME1 game with the appearance, why not try starting a game on ME2? I remember being able to change the appearance at the beginning of that so you could do that and find the code there perhaps.

While that's not a bad idea at all, I believe the 'parameters' are different enough in ME2 compared to ME1 that I couldn't use them to make an exact replica of my ME1 Shepard. However, it would probably get me close enough to tweak and correct. Thank you for the idea Paul! If I can't find another way (I don't think it exists) then that is what I will do.

Actually no, we're both wrong.
If you import an ME1 character you do not get to alter their appearance or even see the code. This idea will not work either.

There has got to be a way!!!.... right?

The best solution I can now think of is to have ME1 running with my original character, on the 360, on one TV, and the trilogy begun on another side by side, on the PS3. Then I can simply do my best to mimic the image. It will still be a little more guess work than I would have liked, but after enough time I should be able to recreate my Shepard perfectly.

You certainly don't get to alter their appearance but all my ME2 Shepards are imports and I'm sure they've got face codes at the top of the squad screen. Or maybe it's only PC that does that?

Really? Huh, thought you did, sorry about that.

You are correct that ME2 does that.  However, unfortunately, the variances between the codes when attempting to create a ME1 character from them ends up with results that are wildly off.  It was a great idea though!

Is that in the face creator preview or actually in game? I've heard several people say that the previewed face is a bit different to gameplay. OTOH you say it's wildly off so probably doesn't help anyway. Guess it's the hard way :-(

1. Import your ME1 character to ME2.
2. Go to the squad selection screen in ME2 and look for the face code on the upper left
3. Enter the code here
http://www.masseffec...torial=me2tome1
4. Put that code to ME1 PS3.

This is probably the closest you can get. Try the character in game to see if she matched up.

This is incredibly useful!
Even if it doesn't end up being satisfactory, I thank you for sharing the link to such an awesome piece of information.

I plugged in my ME2 import face code and got a got string of numbers that vary wildly compared to what I've attempted to recreate thus far.  (The process of having the 360 version with my old saved game running on one tv while I create a character on the PS3 on another TV, then comparing in game after writing down the stats.)
That said however, while my recreations have thus far seemed close, there has certainly been something 'off' about them.  Nothing hideous, but not close-enough, so perhaps this converter will show me the steps I have been missing.  Thanks again!  I can't wait to get home from work and test it out.

Well Drayce333,
the converter did a fair job, and got her looking closer than I did. It still wasn't quite right, so I did another round of tweaking and got even closer... but still not exact. I'm writing everything down, so hopefully in the next couple of attempts I will have it!
One of the biggest problems is that in the 'Squad Menu' is that the darks on the 360 version seem to be darker or more intense. I prefer this and it's strange that on the PS3 trilogy they are fainter. Case in point, the eye shadow option - on the PS3 it looks as if Shepard is barely wearing any eye shadow while the same option on the 360 allows her to look like she's going to a party lol. So, I'm having to ignore that this looks wrong. What's most strange about it is that this 'darkness' difference only seems to be in the squad menu itself. Even Shepard's eye shadow when just walking around the normandy seems comparable, as well as all the other colors.

The lightning is improved in the PS3 versions of ME1 and 2.

Oh and you might want to check system settings on your console.

Checked the settings, so yeah it would seem that the lighting improvement is holding me down lol.

Finally got it! While I'm sure no one actually cares, it may warm someone's ****les to know that after several hours and many attempts, I have finally recreated my original Shepard. If there are any variances still, there are minute enough that my incredibly picky attention to detail brain is not bothered by them. That's good enough for me. Of course... still haven't gotten a chance to actually start the game, but now the next free time I have, I will be able!
