Any chance we get to romance a noble lady or local blacksmith, instead of one of our mass murderous companions?

The romances and sex shouldn't be limmited only on companion characters - in Origins we got at least a bit of this, when we could bed Isabella and marry Anora, instead of one of the freek show members.

Why not a lady blacksmith? ^_^

Any killing done by the companions seems to be part and party with hanging out with Hawke. Who's to say that any of them would have raised a sword or a staff against anyone else had they not been with the Champion.

As for limitations based on companion status, Hawke can bed Jethann.

May I romance you?  I can't decide which point I like more!  I'm now imagining my companions getting together to gripe that they've all become members of a mass-murdering gang thanks to Hawke... It's delightfully subversive.

I think problem with this would be that a romance would pretty much have to include bunches of scenes and dialogue... and a non-companion character just isn't going to get that kind of attention. They just can't.

So if they did it it would feel shallow compared to the companion romances. Which would cause a bit of a temper tantrum in certain threads about how BioWare played favorites. But you're just not going to have NPCs with as much screen time as a companion.

Example? The Kelly romance in ME2 and ME3. It's a romance... but... it's not deep.

I have to agree. Imagine all the banter you would miss. Besides I always imagined that the characters fall in love with you during the quests, not just the talks you have with them. Like the expression Fenris and/or Anders gets, when you tell thrask "I would not like to see this become a massacre". I am not opposed to the idea exactly, but it just seems like you would be missing out on so much.

Oh, I just got an idea. I want during quest flirtasions! Like the kind you sort of have with Tallis, but for romanceble characters!

How about start the romance while the character is not a companion yet, but becomes one later as the game advances?

I think it could be done and perhaps would be interesting. Sort of like romancing Loghain - if he didn't want you dead so much.

I think having a someone at your castle to romance is an interesting concept, if you can romance npc's in Mass Effect for example (such as Kelly, Samantha, Steve etc) then why not a blacksmith or a master at arms?

Would't mind seeing the Dragon Age equivalents of Samantha and Steve. As they will provide some much needed variety from the main LIs, who will be interested in the protagonist regardless of gender.I would prefer DA samantha to be the Blacksmith and DA Steve be MaA.

if they did it similar to traynor and cortez sure. they always on your ship so they can have very detailed characters just like actual companions.

Perhaps. But first, you must prove your worth by defeating me in single combat.

En garde!

I agree it's an interesting idea.  And if it's a major supporting character, like Samantha Traynor or Steve Cortez from ME3, it could work.

I love this idea! Why not allow casual romances with attractive noncompanions? You may not always want to do a full blown romance in a playthrough. I hate that it was not possible to romance the most attractive male characters like Teagan & Sebastian. Come on, BioWare, show the ladies some love. Don't dangle super hot male characters in front of us & then say, uh uh uh, lookie but no touchie. My character doesn't want to marry them, she just wants to have a little fun while saving Thedas from the catastrophic threat du jour.

You could romance Sebastian but only if you NEVER flirted with anyone else, and he won't ever consummate, not even a kiss. None of my few female Hawkes have ever tried. Just not worth it to me, they go for Anders or Fenris just like my males do.

As for Kelly, my Shepard flirted a bit until she got a little creepy about "loving everyone" and then he had to tell her to back off of Garrus. He did end up in a stealth relationship with Jack O_o. He was withTali but Jack thought they'd started something too just because he was nice to her and tried to get to know her, so she thought he wanted in her pants and was angry about Tali. BW let's stop with the stealth romance, Shepard was so confused at Jack O_o just like my Warden somehow ended up romancing Leliana too when he was blatantly chasing Zev.

Non-companion romances are fine with me only as long as they have the same depth, and don't get activated by accident.

It's something I've thought about for a while now, and would love if they included it in DA3. Of course, I'd want it to be as deep as a companion romance.

not a bad idea - but i would want one thing to be able to be set beforehand (for any player-character):

gay: yes/no
lesbian: yes/no
bisexual: yes/no

because i absolutely hate gays coming on to me because i am nice to them (Steve in Mass Effect and Zefran in DA:O - because i feel like an ass telling them where to stick it :crying: because i want to romance the hot blue girl/women (Liara) or the antagonistic witch/****-women (Morrigan))

with a flag, this would not happen - and let's face it:

while i will never (and have never) play(ed) a homosexual men, i love to play girls/women who are lesbian or swing both ways (and i love to play straight women, too)

and this flag would stop something like that from happening.

greetings LAX
ps: NO - i do not HATE gay people (in fact i have had a friend in the past (lost contact with him a few years back because he left the country with his parents) who was not straight at all (he - i assume he still lives - swings both ways)) i just do not like to watch them or have them ask me out

There was also like a bar wench you could get sugar from and some poor girl in the chantry. Plus if you were human noble you could wheel one of some lady's servants or something too.

Personally, I'd love to do a game where you have a non-companion rival/sometime friend of sorts that you're always running into everywhere you go, where they get in your way, rescue you, need to be rescued, hide with you in the sewers, shack out for a couple weeks in your fortress, etc, but you never command them or have control over them. Making all non-companion NPC's one or two-convo throwaways is a design decision, not a necessity--Aribeth had more lines in Neverwinter Nights than any of the companions.

I want a flag to stop straight people from hitting on me because, just like in real life, they get their feelings hurt when I tell them "No thanks," and that is just grossly inconvenient to me as a gamer!

Just so that I understand...you don't hate it when straight people come on to you?

He might catch teh gay if the homosexuals hit on him and by golly just saying "not interested" is way too hard.

But watching two women get it on really curls his toes, so that's okay.

Some straight people are really damn gross.

if i get my flags, then yes (damned i knew i forgott something) you can have the anti-straight flag, too!

greetings LAX
ps: no i do not hate it when straight people (girls in this case - me being male) come on to me!

some might says those girls are "easy", "desperate" or some such drivel (non-sense, crap, bull**** etc.) but most of them are not, they just know what they want and are not afraid to take it (I LOVE THAT - why? - because i believe in equality in all things from the draft (we do not have that anymore in germany now thank god!), to paying for dinner if you are out, to making the first move etc. and because agency (doing something by yourself) shows independence, strength even bravery (because advances can be rejected!))

pps: yes, saying no is hard, because say in DA2 there was no real letting them down gently option, you always felt like such a DICK-WAD after doing it -.- i hate that
