I'm starting a new playthrough and because of the facts that it is next gen & a new engine I was wondering

You can but due to the fact you cant currently import saves into the new engine Bioware are just going to hand out a savestate editing tool that allows you to edit every aspect of your game (what choices you made, what Hawke and the Warden looked like and the gear they had upon completion of their respective games) before starting your game in DA3.

They are still working on importing saves but they still plan to hand out the savestate editor regardless of whether or not they can get the save import working.

I'd hold on to them until you're told otherwise by BioWare.

Err on the side of caution: keep them.

Yes, you should keep them. There is no confirmation this is a next gen title and the fact that it is using a new engine has nothing really to do with a save-import. The engine is basically the rendering engine. A save import is going to be part of the "shell" executable and all it does is read a couple 1s and 0s from your save file at a few specific locations.

Is there any reason not to keep them?  Whats <1mb worth on your hdd?

With the new engine they might not be able to extract the old character design (but this would be possible with enough development), but they can extract all the decisions you made. This data isn't engine dependend.

There is nothing stated that you won't be able to import previous game information to Dragon Age: Inquisition. Since they aren't encrypting their save game information its basically a file that you just need to know where to look to read the information stored. The only thing I can see preventing transferring over the data is if the console developers don't have a way to transfer the save between the consoles and that is something BioWare/EA have no control over, they can only request it.

Doubt you'd need them but it's not like they are taxing in how much space they take up. Throw them on a USB or something.

Speaking of savegames, does anyone knows what flags from DA:O are still imported in a DA2 file?

IIRC some of the Wardens' seemingly relevant actions (like the Dwarf Warden's son with the Noble Hunter) were without a flag so they're just lost forever.

There are lots of threads like this, thank you for acknowledging that.

Yes, it has been confirmed that you will be able to import your save games.  You should keep them if you care about that.

I wish I could just make stuff up and post it as fact somewhere. Oh wait. The internet. Got it.

keep it because of no release date on next gen consoles minus (wii u) so keep it ontil we get game release date with next gen console minus (wii u) release date. if they release game before next gen consoles release keep it. if they release game after next gen consoles release delete it.

What do you lose by saving them? A few megs? Heck, if you need to clean out your HD for room, save 'em to disk. Costs you little to nothing to save them; if you never need them no big deal. If you DO need them, it'll be nice to have 'em.

I'm sure DA3 will be multiplatform anyway. I'd be surprised if it wasn't.
