I like the city elf origin, it'll probably be my second playthrough. I just love the whole "Vengeful Bride" thing. Very Kill Bill. ...and now I'm tempted to name my city elf Uma. :D

It's only a matter of time before Fan Art of the Female City Elf with a katana and a yellow jumpsuit slaughtering her way through the castle appears.

That said, I think the City Elf origin is the more interesting of the two because it offers two different points of view: One if you're male and the other if you're female.

I really love both origins but somehow I think City Elf is a bit richer and more informant. It seems like it really gives you a more detailed view on what DaO is about than the Dalish. I mean it's darker and grittier, by that.

Personally I've never been much of an elf person, generally dislike them on most games, but on DA:O for a moment I was actually seriously considering City Elf as my first character. Something about the way their Origin is made just clicks in with me so much better than elves in most other games. So definately City Elf, even though I still do intend to do Dwarven Commoner as my first char.

I am going to be a City Elf on my first play through. There Origin just seems more interesting. And it would be fun to rolplay an Elf whos been at the bottom of the ladder and raise up, while also not be ing fond of humans.

Just wish there was an Elf to romance haha

City Elf I am still considering as my first playthrough vs. Dwarf Commoner, to be honest Dalish is probably gonna be the last origin I do, which is strange because I usually favour the elven ranger types.

EDIT: After playing around with the CC I've created a female Dalish rogue who I'm really pleased with, so even though the origin story still interests me the least in terms of the plot, I'm a lot more excited to play it now.

Being a delish elf would be so cool. it feels more like an elf than the city elf who is be subject to human civilization and lost their culture.

It's supposed to be the most beautiful dress in the game, or close to it.  I think we got to see a flash of it in one of the IGN videos but it didn't show a lot, and whoever did the main site's videos totally forgot about . :crying:

Really? So its proably just for that opening of the origin right? I heard you can wear it and run around bloody?

Or is that a myth or what?

I'm going to be very standard and just play as a human warrior for my first run through the game. Then I'll experimenting with the other race/classes :D

I don't remember if you can keep it or not, but you can wear it all through the Origin if you like, thus if you kill things, get blood on it.  I don't think the dress will look stained though, just get spattered.

Really? Is there any in-game footage? I'm debating playing that origin or the dwarf one first

I was really psyched to play the Dalish Elf untill they released the orgin. It seems they have the weakest origin story of them all. However I'll probably play the Dalish anyway just because I like the Wood Elf story archetype. And heck, the origin story might surprise me and be really amazing.

I'm gonna play as a Dalish Elf but the class is unimportant.

Dalish for me. They still retain some of their culture, at least, a city elf would feel too much like just a downtrodden human with funny ears. Not to mention that I am neither interested in a forced marriage or in rape as a plot device. Dragon Age may be "dark and gritty", but some sick sh*t is too close to home for me and I want none of it in my gaming, period.

I created a male Dalish rogue. I decided that his partner in the origin story was his one true love, and now he only has casual sex with Morrigan and Zevran. It makes the Dalish story much more interesting. So painful, and he has a real reason to give up everything he knows and leave to become a Grey Warden.

I played through all the origins except dwarf commoner just to see what they were like. The only one that felt fully realized to me was the human noble. City elf and dwarf noble were good concepts but felt like something was missing in the execution of the story. I never got emotionally connected. Didn't care much for the mage or Dalish elf origins. Mage especially felt like it was someone else's origin.

male city elf or either dalish but the dalish origin is generic (not bad- just generic), but they have crap on thier faces- unless you do the unrealistic thing and go with an untatooed dalish elf.

the female city elf origin is broken- it would work fine in a jrpg or "play the movie" game where the game tells you what your character is thinking and how they act and the game determines your character's reactions for you-

but in an rpg- the female city elf origin is just plain broken.

The city elf origin has the best story by far, to me. I can't take dorfs seriously.

City Elf is probably the greatest Origin story and I love how there is the Male version and the Female version.
