- Female City Elf Warrior
- Female Dalish Elf Warrior (my first playthrough was a male)
- Female Human Mage (I have a male one too, for romance with Morrigan)
- Female Dwarf Noble Warrior
- Human Noble Rogue (Anastasia, she's awesome.)
The city elf origin is the more emotional choice, the story is a bit better if you like that sort of thing. However, generally I like Dalish elves more than I do city elves so...I don;t really know what I can tell you.

I don't get why so many people like the city elf origin more than the Dalish. I for one honestly found the Dalish origin to be far more emotionaly compelling than the city elf origin.

It's because City Elf is bad ass.

I like both. they're both emotional for different reasons; CE cuz you're out for revenge for the rest of the game, and the DE cuz you're leaving your clan, your family so to speak. it's the only thing you've known, and to be torn away from it and forced to interact with so many humans speaks to me more than the CE. I love 'em both, though.

My current playthrough is as a female City Elf rogue, and I really like her character. She's spunky
I plan to romance Zevran with her.

Don't mind the faded Chelsea Smile scars, she's a peach.

So... if play City Elf Female, remember to turn Persistent Gore back to ON.
Got it.
And put The 5678's Woohoo on the player.

Pretty much, yes.
I found if I choose the 'happy to be married, isn't my groom cute, isn't this a lovely day' convo options early on, I'm set for the rest of the game.

The mage's origin story is the best.

So far i've done.
1. Male Dalish Elf Rogue
2. Female Human Mage
3. Male Dwarf Noble Warrior
4. Female Dalish Rogue
5. Male Human Mage Arcane Warrior (Currently Playing)
6. Female City Elf Rogue (Currently Playing)
On topic i prefer dalish elves mainly because there tattoo selection is a bit better and also because there females have better starting outfits (sad i know) lol. But as far the origins stories go, the city elf wins hands down as the dalish origins story is easily the most boring of the game.

female city elf definitely! But I think the dwarf noble origin story is best

My first playthrough was Female Human Noble warrior. I think I like that origin the best because it really sets the revenge closest to home, main story wise. Its funny too because I had planned to make her horribly cruel and chaotic in that playthrough but after the origin the roleplay side of me compelled her to seek justice, and she ended up being more of a lawful character.
Ive played all the other origins and haven't fully decided which one to keep going as. I really enjoyed Dwarf Noble just because the beginning parts were really funny and im most interested what it will be like when you go back there.
City elf was fun too.
My least favorite has got to be dalish elf, it just felt the shortest and most shallow, and it leaves me feeling that my character doesn't have much to really live for.

I greatly preferred the Dalish origin to the city elf origin. It's a very good origin, just more subtle, maybe. I don't know. I went in geared to play a city elf vengeful bride, but wound up underwhelmed. It was just too short, it seemed. I didn't feel a huge connection to my character.
It felt like there was a lot more to key into under the surface in the Dalish origin. It was like there was barely visible threads connecting everything.
I really, really liked the Dalish elf and give it a full recommendation.

Both have great openings but I enjoyed going with the City Elf just because it had that extra "*beep* you" to the ruling class of the city.
Off topic slightly, the only origins I was utterly disappointed in was the lousy Dwarf Commoner one. It was just simply dreadful.

What's wrong with dwarf commoner?

I can't post spoilers, but simply enough it just felt short, abrupt and pointless. I could have skipped the origins to the dwarf commoner and felt like it had added to my character. Every other origins story at least had a sense of me feeling for the character since they were strong people in a bad situation where as the dwarf commoner I enjoyed watching suffer for their stupidity.
Just an opinion though, I'm sure hundreds if not thousands of people disagree with me.

City Elves are pushovers, and their story isn't all that great. I wish the elves had the same fantastic writing as the Dwarf Noble and Human Noble.
I would say the Dalish story is pretty sad, but the problem is that their origin doesn't even intertwine with the main story.

Going to the alienage as a city elf was far better than going to the dalish camp as a dalish, I thought. The main thing I like about the origins is how they affect your interactions with others, but being a dalish seems pretty inconsequential, it gets you some "so, you're a dalish" comments instead of the "so, you're an elf" that mage/city elfs get, but the only times your origin feels important is when you talk to what's-her-face at the post-coronation and the shriek ambush that happens after the third ally, but even that felt like it could've been handled better to be honest.

I've played Dalish through main story and I think its much better. City elf just isnt elf, they look like humans anyway. Dalish atleast come from the forest and I think the origin was way better. (I did both, yes)

I've played each origin, they are all fun in their own respect. I like the story/history behind the Dalish more, while the city elf origin is a more moving experience as an Origin and sheds more insight into the world of Thedas. Let's face it, someone was watching Princess Mononoke when they wrote the Dalish Elf Origin.
-Your character is "cursed" and banished from it's people to find a cure
-Your tribe is a "different people" than the current political power and is outcast/looked down upon
-Your people raise and utililze a type of deer for transportation, kind of like the red elk in the movie
-Your character goes off to act as diplomat between factions to solve a greater problem
I'm sure there are other similarities, but those seem the broadest in scope.

Storywise- The actual city elf origin is more interesting and action-packed than Dalish.
Lorewise- At least for me, the Dalish are one of my favorite parts of the game. Strong nomadic warriors. Kinda makes me wish they would have kept the barbarian origin too.
