This is the first time I play Mass Effect as a Renegade. However, I've decided to do all big choices in the Paragon way, like letting Balak go to save his hostages, keeping Wrex alive, saving the Council and getting the best outcome for Feros. I took anti-Thorian gas from Juliana Baynham while saying how I wasn't going to use it, hoping to get Renegade points. But since I'd made up my mind before, I used it on every colonist. None of them was killed. I intimidated Ethan Jeong, and he agreed to help the colony. I did all the sidequests on Feros which involved helping the colony. I kept Shiala alive. But after I defeated the Thorian, the game started acting like I killed most of the colonists, and now all survivors are going to leave the planet. NPCs kept saying that. Khalisah al-Jilani mentioned it in her interview. Even the journal says the colony is doomed. There was only one rather hilarious exception: the news radio in an elevator on the Citadel said that ExoGeni is shutting down the colony AND that investors are happy, and stocks have increased. Guess I'll have to edit my save file later. What did I do wrong?

Weird. From your actions it sounds like Feros should survive. Going from memory if you've done the sidequests then Shiala plus only one or two colonist deaths is enough and Shiala plus ExoGeni support ensures the colony even if you kill almost all the colonists. You didn't kill anyone at all as far as I can see so I can't explain this. How far from your save are you? I wonder if you'll get the correct result if you go back and replay a section and do something a bit more renegade, like killing Ethan Jeong. Or maybe agreeing to the gas grenades since saying you won't use them only gets you 2 Renegade points anyway.

Sadly, I only use quicksaves, and the game autosaves quite often, so I can't go back anymore. Whatevs.

Damn. Well, hopefully it's just giving you wrong dialogue and background. If not save editing is about all there is.
