well i used to play this game like crazy. i put it down for a looooong time.

started playing again, trying to tie up loose ends.

stumped with regards to acquiring flemeths grimoire, for the companion quest - morrigan.

in camp, theres only two dialouge lines that you can use to speak with morrigan, none of them have anything to do with the flemeth quest. one has something to do with learning spape shifting. she wont teach me, even though i have learned basic shapeshifting somewhere. i think she might have taught me earlier on in the game, cant recall.

anyway, is my approval level with her not high enough? what do i need to do to get morrigan to trigger this quest?

if i travel out to flameths hut, its locked & i need a key.

totally stuck. help is appreciated.

if it helps, im a human mage, using the magi story arc.

You have to find the grimoire in Circle Tower and give it to her first. She'll study it, then talk to you again about Flemeth's true grimoire.

anywho, i was just in the tower last night. zoomin around with morrigan, in swarm form, for speed.

i thought i looked everywhere. then again, now that i think about it, i read somewhere that ms. morrigan CANNOT be  in your party; when you search the tower.

ill put that theory to the test & hopefully get this sorted out, its one of the few side quests i have left.

The grimoire can be found with Morrigan in the party. It can be gifted to her in the tower itself, or anywhere else to trigger the quest. Also, initiating conversation with her while in the circle tower will make her tell you about the possibility of finding the grimoire in the tower, thereby initiating the quest.

About shapeshifting, she'll only teach the spec when her approval rating is neutral.

I believe the grimoire was in Irving's study? I am unsure if Morrigan must have the 'grimoire' discussion with you first though in order to find it. Usually I go in, swap her out after meeting Wynne, have the "mother's book" talk with her, then finish with my usual party.

Correct.

You don't need to talk about it first. She will just express surprise that you were able to find it without her even mentioning it.

i figured out the problem.

everytime i went to flemeths hut, i had morrigan in the party with me, so she could face her herself.

didnt realize that the game is programmed to not advance the quest unless you go there without her. (think?)

sure enough, there she was.
