Yep, not how *do* I unlock it, but how *did* I?

To explain, I'm currently playing Awakening as a level 30 duel-wielding rogue/assassin. She *can* wield 2 swords but she currently has the longsword Vigilance and an excellent dagger as off-hand weapon for better armor penetration. I just hit an ambush of Qunari Mercenaries and switched to controlling Anders mid-battle to get him to use a mana potion - and while I was doing so, my character did *something* and the achievement popped up. I went to check in the stats and she apparently did 654 damage.

My problem is that I didn't spot exactly what she did - I saw Heartseeker pop up as a used skill, but having tried Heartseeker since it doesn't do anything like that kind of damage ... I've even checked her tactics and I can't quite see how she did it!

I'm going to continue experimenting as I would very much like to be able to reproduce those kind of numbers, but I was wondering if any other duel-wield rogue players have done this and know how they did?

Was she standing behind one of the qunari?

It's entirely possible! I just got it to happen again - I think it might have something to do with Mark of Death. I used MoD on an Ancient Sylvan and followed it with Heartseeker (striking from the side) and this time did 1401 damage, which is crazy. Whether any of my companions (Anders, Nathaniel, Oghren) had used anything else on it that might have increased damage, I'm not sure, but having looked at their tactics I don't think so.

Congrats, you just ripped someone's heart apart. That's heartseeker for sure.
Such numbers pop up when elites at low health are K.O.'d by heartseeker. And before you ask, no, i don't know how much health the game considers low enough for a successful heartseeker assassination. By now, you have probably tested it on enemies having higher health; the talent simply does critical damage if it doesn't kill outright. To brag a little, the maximum I've managed is 1239 but I'm sure it can go higher on stronger elites.

Edit: See, you've just outdamaged me. Bravo!
