I apologise to CptPatch if my post came off that way to you. It wasn't my intention to sound like that, I genuinely don't understand people complaining about items being too expensive.
Personally, I find the balancing of the awesome items and upgrades with high costs works quite well as it prevents 'god characters' and the game being too easy early on. Because these things are available through the whole game the increased prices allow them to scale with your character. If you had all backpack spaces at the beginning of the game you could loot and hoard EVERYTHING you came across without making sacrifices and there wouldn't be the same awesome progression.

My apologies in turn. I forgot to include the wink and LOL to better show I was talking tongue-in-cheek.[/quote]

I actually agree. I'm a firm believer in ROLEplaying as opposed to ROLLplaying. It's actually rather ludicrous for a character on a quest to Save The World when "time is of the essence" to get so easily diverted playing "The Collector" or trying to qualify for an episode of "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous". Despite how unpopular the idea, it is why I advocate for encumberance rules (despite how cumbersome they might be). Or maybe to reinfoce that "time is of the essence!", to actually have The Clock ticking down to when The Ultimate Bad Guy launches his nefarious plan. (And do NOT tell the players how far off that is.)
