I just don't understand what they were going for with the 'we fight or we die'-line. No matter how you look at it, it sucks. What is Shepard trying to say!? That we die if we don't fight? Well yes, that's quite obvious isn't it?! Believe it or not, but that line is one of my biggest gripe with this game. It's so damn horrible, I don't know what so say.

I think the general idea was something like:
None of our current strategies or tactics are going to work against this enemy. Adapt to the situation and keep fighting, learning as you go and buing more time because running isn't an option.

Yea, I guess you're right. Still, I wish Shepard could've put it a little more... intelligent?!

What happened
Comitee guy: "How do we stop them?"
Shepard: "Stop them?  This isnt about strategy or tactics.  This is about survival"

What should have happened (maybe)
Comitee guy: "How do we stop them?"
Shepard: "None of our current strategies or tactics are going to work against this
enemy. Adapt to the situation and keep fighting, learning as you go and
buying more time because running isn't an option.  As it stands we face extinction.  We have to find some other way to defeat them."

Would prolly have went over better than the spew of retardation that flew out of shepards mouth.

I mean really the comittee guy asked for a plan of action.  Something to do that will stop the reapers.  Shepards answer was just "hurrr duuurrrrr"

There were several things that I needed to keep ignoring but in the end of Cronos station, where we get to hear that Reapers took over the Citadel, just like snapping fingers and moved it in Sol system... There I realised that no matter how much I _work_ to maintain my immersion, it isn't going to do any good any more.

I really love that part. When the Reapers steamroll a planet they bomb the crap out of high priority targets. They can't do that with the Citadel. Not only are they locked out thanks to the Protheans and is the Citadel itself nearly invulnerable when the arms are closed, it is also absolutely key to the cycles. That spells groundwar. There's C-sec, the militias, there's supplies stockpiled and about 13 million people.

God knows you've done enough fetch quests for C-Sec.

*POOF*
Everyone is now dead and the Citadel is now at Earth. Tada! :wizard:

According to the writers, there are still millions of people alive on the citadel (including all names NPCs). I guess the reapers merely controlled some key strategic areas of the station.

Basically Mac said they died and Patrick said they lived.
There were people asking about if people who were left in Citadel died from Mac Walter via Twitter. His response was like "Maybe few who were lucky got out, but for lots of people, bad times." I don't know what Patric said exactly, but it might be something about (at least some) people being able to survive on Citadel arms, or some of the arms.

Anyway, during end game, we can see there is "water fall of blood" in the Citadel. Hardly see that implicating anything positive regarding inhabitants of Citadel.

EDIT: About survival of named NPCs. Sorry, but I liked to get source for that, because when I was more active on forums and following things, I never saw anything like that.

Patrick Weekes PAX interview, here...

-Did anyone on the Citadel survive?

Yes. We would never, ever do anything that made the player feel, on replay, that it would be better for everyone on the Citadel if they just died. The Citadel has emergency shelters and kinetic barriers - even if it blows up, millions might survive. You should assume that everyone plot-important on the Citadel survived.

Lots of speculation for everyone...but I like Patrick Weekes version better ^_^

Thanks for posting!

Patric sure is trying to save the day, hard to blame him for that. Appears to me like this is where we can choose what happened to people on Citadel. We can keep speculation, but my personal guess is that this is as good as it's going to get.

I entirely facepalmed at "the only thing we can, we fight or we die."

The line was so bad that it actually broke my immersion because my Shepard would never make such a stupid blanket statement at such a crucial point in time. And infront of all those people too! How embarressing...

I mean seriously, look here, the bald councilor even shakes his head at the line after she says it.

i agree and you spend the majorety fighing on the sidelines and running away from the major warzones
and evien goes shooping on the citadel

You actually were bored enough to blow up the sprites on ground level of Earth in the prologue? What is the big deal you expect them to fully render that?
