Usually take typhoon and piranha for backup. But no flamer means I could do whatever I want and still win.
Now if I could carry 5,
Typhoon
Hurricane
Javelin
Claymore
Scorpion
How sweet would that be?

Reegar or Acolyte are good, since they strip shields so you can melt down armor and health with your Flamer. Harrier, Piranha, or Talon are effective on almost any character. You probably want something with range, for when Flamer can't reach, so the Harrier or Wraith would be good. I used the Collector Sniper for a while; it recharges nicely while you're Flaming, so you can cut out reload cycles.

I go with a geth theme, GPS and Javelin (no Flamer build).
GPS for Mooks, Javelin for bosses and insane cover penetration.
This unit approves of your no-flamer build.
So does this unit.
Rock a GPS/Revenant/Typhoon on him. As a secondary weapon either the Javelin or the collector sniper rifle have proven to be good assets.

but anywho whatever you want because of the way the recharge for flamer work so weight doesnt really matter too much the collector sniper rifle was suggested by jumpin and really works well if you want some distance but you cant go wrong with the reegar or my personal choice for any character the pirahna with a smart choke and the heavy barrel
people who go without flamer on the geth trooper are fools cuz the geth infiltrator will blow it out of the water if you do a hunter mode build and flamer is an awesome power and he has the strongest one in the game since you get the extra 30% from fortification

poster above me, what you are failing to mention is that if you dont get flamer you can multiple bonuses to survivability, like shield recharge over power damage.
for certain guns like the typhoon where flamer wouldnt be useful.. its an awesome build.
is that a knock on the flamer soldier? not at all, thats what promoting is for.

lol, flamerless soldier is just as badass as the flamer soldier if you build it for specific weapons, IMO alot more fun than the destroyer.

It was fun for a stretch for me but I don't see the merit of flamerless soldier not wielding a reegar+otherweapon. It's kind of just like a legit wallhacker; feels like if you need those wallhacks and that much tankyness, you are either doing it lazy, or need to learn to aggressively corner camp / pre-shoot more.

any lazier than sticking the reegar on everything?
theres part of our difference of opinion, reegar aint my thing.
but yes, if i wasnt building him around the typhoon, ( my fvorite way to play him)
id spec flamer of course.

I almost never leave Flamer running for longer than a second, so the cooldown does not matter to me.

Weapons like the Javelin and Typhoon would work better with a Flamerless mode, though.

With the HM-free flamer version I have been using the Wraith/Scorpion ( scorpion for phantoms ), but some of the suggestions in this thread I might give them a try - PPR, hurricane, javelin because range is the problem on some maps.
