Usually it's not even slightly important. On the rare occasions I have my mic on, most randoms don't respond, and a few will talk game only - this is where I'm happiest.

But most who round are quite polarised. Then it's either 20 minutes of VERY awkward uncomfortable chat up attempts from squeaky boy voices, having things rocketed "for you". Uncomfortable.

The others who respond are the really nasty guys who go for you with violent sexual stuff from the start. Just yesterday I did a gold & had my mic on for wave 10 as the others were going down a lot. Straight away I'm getting "you skank b*tch*, "have you ever been f******up the rectum", I'm **** you up" "filthy **** b*tch", etc etc etc. Unfortunately I think I wandered into a party as once the match was over got sent really gross stuff from all three guys by text. Reported them all obviously but I had to leave the lobby. I wasn't deeply bothered but random out-of-the-blue abuse is unsettling.

I did wipe the floor with all of them in-game tho (next best guy had two thirds of my points)
- something to laugh about. Losers.

Huh. I've actually had a group of three dudes mistake me for a woman on Guild Wars 2 while I was playing PvP (that's what I get for preferring to play as female characters) who could not stop whispering (PM'ing, if you don't know) me the same sort of message those peeps sent you. Decided to play along with their assumption of my gender...

And got myself a nice nulified K/D ratio since I killed them all over five times each without dying once. I love my Elementalist. <3

As it is, it seems that almost all of the BSN community is fairly polite. I'm comparing this to other forums and average in-game activity, and we do have some problems, but overall this forum is fairly civilized. Even if we do exploded every so often.

I'm impressed, BSN.

Just to balance this thread out a bit PEACEFULLY, has anyone had any experiences with women being immature online? No one can call sexism if both genders are being criticised.

Just a couple days ago a friend and I were dropped into a lobby on a different game. My friend was talking before we got dropped in, so the first thing someone heard him say was "You're not a girl." It was part of a totally unrelated conversation. A woman immediately responded, angrily, "Yes I am a girl." I joked back, "He wasn't talking about you. not everything is about you." And at that she lost her s**t and started hurling insults at us. In game she proceeded to rage loudly every time she was killed and blaming everything but her performance. Typical angry CoD kid stuff, although coming from an adult. My favorite was when said "You're using [attachment for a gun]. That's such a b***h attachment. I'm a girl and even I don't use that." I honestly don't think she realised that she was only insulting herself and her gender.

*sigh* those heretics are a disgrace to the male gender. nasty stuff spewing from the mouth is a sign of immaturity and a sign that they probably havent gottin "any" in a looong time.

....they were desperate to get a response from a female im guessing, that or they like sharing their girls, assuming its not a respectable one because no respectable woman would ever befriend these types of boys.

I'm estimating I've heard around 100 people on mic playing this game. Of those, perhaps six were female. Of the 100, four were immature jerks and they were all male. I'm not counting myself, I'm a male immature jerk, but I don't use my mic except to mute the lobby.

Wow. I've never seen something like that happen. Then again, I've been fortunate enough to not have run into guys like that either. I've had matches with both genders where people are being a bit self-righteous, but not to that extent.

This goes to show that neither gender is better than the other. Just reinforces my loathing of humanity in general.

Well, I've said it before & I'll say it again...

Idiots are everywhere. Some of them are men, some of them are women. It's less men vs. women, than morons vs. non-morons.

;o)

Lathrim - lol that's nasty. I hope you destroyed them so bad they had to go cry to their mums >:o)

What I love is when guys like that mistake the girl for a little boy and start calling "him" Gay or other such stuff.

Then when they find out its a girl, they start hitting on her, or in a twist, keep the insults going and talk about how butch her voice sounds.

the same guys who were just telling her male self that he sounded like a girl 2 minutes ago.
Happens to my friend all the time. Image IPB

Little rule of thumb I've learned in online games, and it applies to Mass Effect:

If the person you are playing with is playing a Female, 97% chance that is not actually a girl.
Do not flirt online, it brings up awkward situations.

Truth. Most of the time, I play a Turian, and as there are no female Turian's in MP yet, that means I'm playing a dude avatar.
And while I would like us to eventually get female Turians in MP, unless they are as awesome as I view my beloved Turian Sentinel, chances are I'll still play him the most.

Female Turian Sentinel: Tech Armor, Snap Freeze, and Reave. Would you play?

I can't stand girls like that. Not only is she making herself look bad but other female gamers as well. Never once did I expect any of my guy friends to carry me or treat me special because I'm female. And they don't. If your a female gamer who wants to be taken seriously don't act like that. She sounds like one of those girls who wants that special treatment. Maybe she was on her period? But that's not really a good excuse imo.

I may joke around about being a female gamer buts always a joke. Its never to be taken seriously. I think its so funny when people get their panties over those jokes. (Though the elite girl players thread was serious...I did manage to find a few of them! They do exsist!)

The best is getting stalked by female gamers or meeting overly clingy women. After that happened several times I just stopped adding chicks. Besides, my tomboy friend IRL was my first friend on ME3 and really the only chick ever to totally keep our gaming relationship professional. Also for the record the way most guys flirt is disgusting to me on Xbox live. Its a video game, go to a bar if you want creep.

I cannot possibly agree anymore with your post. She sounds like a douche and should be treated like you would treat any douche guy.

Definitely creepy. I fall into the tomboy chick gamer zone. I enjoy what is considered traditionally male activities (drinking whiskey, shooting pool, bowling, fishing, watching college football, playing video games), but I am also happily married. But given an honest-to-God choice between a day of shopping with my girl friends or a day of male-stuff with my guys friends (such as all hooking up to game online, all going out to get drunk and shoot pool/watch football, or all going out to drink and fish), I will choose the guys' day out every single damn time. It's just more fun, FOR ME, in my opinion.

Sorry you've run into creepy girls. That's as unfun as girls running into creepy guys.

Honestly, I am all for the human race getting to a point where activities aren't associated with certain genders. Can we just say that, as a person, I enjoy this-this-and-this and not be judged for it?

****in' eh! Shame you're on PSN man. But yeah, completely agree. Real weirdos in general and internet is no exception. Shame a few bad apples spoil it and generate stereotypes for everyone. Except kids....they're annoying 100% of the time. Dear god.

P.S. Surprised this thread has been going this long without a lock and key thrown into the fires of Mount Doom...
