I've been thinking that instead of public/private games there is a more flexible way for managing players:LoonySpectre wrote...

When you first create a lobby it only contains one open slot filled with your own character. Other slots are closed. If, at this stage, you start the game nobody can join it. Not a public gamer, not a friend, as all other slots are closed.
You can open up slots in the lobby in two ways:
1) Press "Open slot" button in the slot window - this becomes a public slot, anybody can join
2) Press "Invite friend" button in the slot window - when the friend joins the slot is opened only for the friend.
Slots that are not opened stay closed during the whole game.

That would make too much sense to be EA.
