Yeah its origin BS, I thought you couldn't join except invited and thus I messed up Stardusks solo.

If I had known you could mess peoples games up by joining even though you weren't invited I had never joined that game.

I'm sorry for this BS.

Not an excuse. You announce, ninja join and I can't type back because a Banshee is chasing me. Thanks.

I think that the main fault is on Origin side and the game design itself. This game wasn't supposed to be soloed, so there aren't proper terms of protecting yourself from such situations.

I was doing a sucessful platinum solo, things were going well and some guy (who is now blocked) thought it was funny to ninja join, all the equipment, everything gone.

I will be frank, I have never, ever stealth/ninja joined, ever and I expect it as a common courtesy to ASK if one can join.

I have been dced, staggered and stunlocked to death and now some less than polite person ninja joins and ruins my entire solo.

I consider myself a nice guy, good teammate and I am always willing to play with people but ninja joining is off limits. If anyone ever ninja joins on my watch again, I will block them, period. Tired of that bs.

You blocked a guy because you weren't smart enough to set your status to invisible?  Ok...

You might have some hilarious code of conduct you adhere to but the fact is most normal people will see you in a game and assume you are either with a group or running in a public game and try to join up.

Stop blaming others for your own stupidity.

It was invisible and almost everone I play with asks before joining. Do you barge into a friend's place without knocking or announcing yourself? Same principle, perhaps you do though....

Set your status to Invisible. Problem solved.

I was invisible, or so I thought.

You have to set your status to invisible after launching Mass Effect 3 or Origin will show you as online and ingame. At least for me it does.

Yet, joining a game without an invite/asking to join is definitely bad manner to me. What if I didn't want to play with you at the moment? What if I was waiting for someone else?

Nope, not nice.

*sadness*

The only way someone can join a Private match on Xbox is if your in the party with them.
Kinda wish they had an "Invite Only" mode as someone on my list troll joined me during a gold solo and got in with 15sec on Extraction. <_<

It happens.

I definitely ask first in case the lobby is waiting on somebody to rejoin or something, but some people don't do that.

For invisibility to work, you have to set your status to invisible AFTER starting the game. If you set it before, your status will change from invisible to in-game.

I have a couple friends that I do actually, however, I also have a key to their house and known them for 6-7 years... And usually also bring food.

Doesn't matter how long you've known them, it's still bad manners.

That is still not the general practice. Whatever...at this age I don't have time to mess around.

Let's say it's okay and noone cares too much about that until you interrupt him while he's with a girl (or soloing in game)

I think you should vent your frustrations on the guy that said he was sorry for not knowing something he couldn't have known. I'm sure he hasn't learned his lesson.

I know every time someone messages me with a voice message I scream at them because it's rude to expect me to waste 15 seconds listening to them get to the point rather than reading the same words in text form in 2 seconds. I think next time I should report them and block them.

yeah...because that's rational...

EDIT: better yet, you should make another thread about it. Yeah, make a manners thread! <_<

Happened to me a lot of times in the past, so had to start going invisible beforehand. I would personally never join someone's game without asking, and would expect the same courtesy.

Can't Origin have an "extra status", like in ICQ? So that people would open the chat window or context menu and immediately see something like, "On a solo, do not join or message me".
The other way to prevent "ninja joining" is to be able to "close" the unused slots in a private lobby, wonder if it can be implemented.

I know I'm nobody to you but with ALL due respect, Stardusk, I'd give the guy a warning shot. Perhaps he just never thought the scenario through & needed an experience to serve as his lesson in online etiquette 101.
I know from reading your posts that you take the game seriously (and respect you a lot for that reason) but end of the day, it's just a game...and he seems to regret his blunder.

Still, I don't deny you the right to be frustrated

Just my opinion though

Reminds of Flamko's gold solo video where he states he forgot to set himself to invisible and you can see two people join in throughout the game (he tells them to leave over the mic).

It is indeed annoying for people to join without asking first, it's not that hard to just send a msg asking if they can join first.

Either way, golden rule of soloing, set yourself to Invisible first. Hell, I have it my default setting to always log in as Invisible (though for that to work for me I need to tick of the "remember password" option and manually log in every time).

If you set to invisible after you enter origin, it won't work. Same if you enter invisible, then change to on. You have to leave ME3/Origin and log in as invisible. It has been this way since forever, I don't know why they haven't fixed this yet.

Yes, I had people joining me without asking at the most inconvenient times. After my rage passed, I discovered that I can set myself invisible in game.
Still, it´s something I hardly understand, as I would never ever join someone´s game without permission.
Blocking them seems pretty harsh though.

Are you sure? I always set up the invisible status in-game and it has always worked for me. Noone ever joined a game while I was invisible.
